First imp I have seen, looks like a semi boss leve.
Spoiler: show
I wonder if that mob works the same way as that one imp in SSR 3f you have to "pursue" :D.
Typical SE Quality, which is to say better than any other MMO I've ever played.
They really do need some kind of voice acting, even a grunt or something now and then, see for yourself.
Musketeer CS HD
Spoiler: show
Still can't get over how great the graphics are imo, even at this stage.
i only know of one, which is the same one that starts for everyone the moment you enter the game..
"Treasures of the Main" appears to be the fisherman class quest.. and its fairly long winded.
You take your blowfish and talk to balderon, then bring it to the cooking place and talk to someone, then off to some other building to try to join the musketeers or something until you're told to go to the fisherman's' guild, where you enter an instance and have to start learning how to do emotes.
From there, theres an escort quest that starts at the entrance of Limsa up to Oschon's Torch..
most people probably stopped here cos the lag in Lower La Noscea and the frequent d/cs in the area (in past sessions) made it impossible to complete.
not sure about now.
Now that really makes me wonder.. if every class has their own 'questline'?
Sort of like AF, just from the start.
Anyway, since there's no voice acting, we could assume it's because a) it's not the main "storyline" and that will be implemented later/just like wotg they are intertwined together, or b) VA take too much space and thus haven't been added yet, and that is infact the 'main' storyline.
Good to hear there's still content we have not seen though, even if it's just some of the abilities/leves/quests :D.
I dont think its a fishing class "quest" although I could be wrong.
Its basically force fed you when you start in Limsa Limosa, you can't leave the docks unless you start the quest off. It also takes you too more than just the fishermans guild.
Personally I think its a basic introduction storyline. It introduces you to the "flavour" of the town, makes you run all over the place visiting NPCs to help you explore the city and learn the layout etc.
I'm hoping the voice acting has been omitted for Alpha/Beta makes no sense to needlessly increase the download size of the client. (saying that I doubt it would make much difference)
Thanks for the vids Ghost.
I hope there's an option to turn off voice acting. Given the history of recent titles this is a must have feature.
I actually liked how the cutscenes were without voices and I'm only hoping to hear them during important cutscenes, like the intro movie of limsa lominsa. Besides I personally think that it takes way to much space and effort to make voices for every cutscene.
I just need to look back at FFXI and that mmorpg is still the one with most cutscenes for me. I mean after some time almost every quest received cutscenes. Try making dialogue for every one of those.
Besides I doubt they will, considering what I've seen from video's. You can press enter to let the dialogue move faster. Imaging having text get cut off every time.
"Hi mr. adven- *enter*"
"I'd like you t- *enter*"
"What do y- *enter*"
Doesn't really work well...
And the npc's lips were always moving either too fast or not at all during the curscenes. Try lip syncing that. (btw I'm making a difference between ingame cutscenes and the cutscene movie on the ship)
I thought it was some mission at first.. but it appears in the journal as a class quest.. so my first assumption is fisherman.. tho it could just be a general introduction..
I also get the feeling a lot of the voice acting thats supposed to be in place in the game isnt there yet.
Mining Leve 5:00
Spoiler: show
Good man, thanks again. Ill get em on stream when I get home.
No luck with a regimen again I guess?
Thanks for posting those mining/smithing vids Ghost. I know its still alpha but I'm hoping they'll eventually add some smithing sound when banging the hammer on the spark. That'd just make it perfect for me.
I'm going to enjoy crafting in this game.
Edit: Now to hope that the mining video doesn't get removed by the time I get home from work like last time >_<.
I don't think it would be that much more work than voicing a regular FF tbh, I would rather there be voice for those who want it and the ability to turn it off.
Of course if VO's don't make it cutscenes with proper subtitles at the bottom of the screen would be better instead of in that chat box.
Initially not, maybe. The game expands at quite a fast rate though.
They gotta get the next batch of cutscenes ready for the next update, which might be in 1-3 months. Depending on how many cutscenes they plan to add, it might be too much to voice act them all. Someday the game will be much larger than a normal FF game.
TOR plans to VA every cutscene though, so it's definitely possible. Worth it? Not sure about that.
