Lullaby could sleep undead, used CHR, and was lower priority than sleep. That's very different.

If you Lullaby'd a slept mob, no effect, sleep a lullaby'd mob? Sleep overwrites.

Sleep also has a much longer duration.

I'd put it this way, if one day, my lullaby slept mobs instead of lullaby'd them, I'd notice. Bam, it's different.

Also, tents! That'd be sweet, someone pops a tent when the whole party is in passive mode, it could instantly heal everyone, or actually pop out a little tent and campfire that heals you, that'd be cool.

If I had to speculate, I'd say this would be a safe assumption. There are many sub-categories for weapons like for Pugilist for example. Maybe certain weapons can hold class traits and change depending on the sub-category of weapon you're using.

Or maybe passive traits will be applied to all sorts of weapons. Like one staff that is gained through a guildleve has fast cast trait on a Conjurer staff. Another Conjurer staff that drops off a NM has a magic attack bonus trait attached.

I would love to see that.

When I said weapons in that context I meant classes. Just clarifying.

I'm going to edit the post to avoid any ambiguity.

No, Sleep don't overwrite Lullaby. Sleep II, on the other hand, do. Just like how Repose overwrite Sleep, but does not overwrite Sleep II (and neither does Sleep II overwrite Repose). Lullaby and Sleep are exactly the same, only opposing elements. They share same status effect, mainly as a mob can't "sleep" twice.

It would be much better for you if you compared Elegy to Slow, as those are separate status effects.

Oh, okay, you're right, Lullaby and Sleep are the same, even though one is opposite element and lasts about twice as long, kay, my mom and my dad are the same person too brah

Okay, enough with the sleep/lullaby crap. We know. Utterly irrelevant to XIV.

    The following intrigued me:

    Thaumaturge

    • Numbing Rime (II) Launch a frozen projectile, increasing magic potency and dealing ice damage. Temporarily incapacitates body parts when targeted.

Maybe it does stuff like freeze their legs so they can't move but can still attack?

I'd always rather have a mage at my back than another melee if I'm in just a 2 person group.

I'm thinking that spell "Numbing Rime" is going to be one of those spells that consumes TP. It says "Increases magic potency", and weapon skills usually say "Increases attack power".

Dude... seriously... you've got to be trolling at this point. You've proved you don't know wtf you're even talking about several times already. You can't even begin to argue that they aren't the same effect. Of course they get there through different means. You'd have to be retarded to expect lullaby to be modded by enfeebling skill as Bard doesn't have any native enfeebling skill. 3 people can take 3 different routes to get from point A to point B but they all sure as hell end up at point B. I can't believe this is still going on even. Welcome to my ignore list moron.

I'm not so sure that you're understanding what people are saying. The general point was that regardless of the same status that two spells inflict on a target, the way the spell itself works is important. It isn't all about the end product, and that can definitely affect the overall usefulness of a spell.

The "route" as you put it, completely makes a difference. nobody gets mad if a bard can't sleep a light elemental. just like nobody minds when the blm can't sleep the skeleton. swap the roles and people will start to get upset. It's like saying that resistances don't matter, cause either way the mob ends up dead. magic kills jellies better than melee. time to relax.

On topic, I hope very much that different limbs can be frozen/disabled/removed, but I'm not expecting it. Would be pretty epic to see "Timat readies spike flail but fails cause he has no tail."

wtf, they all have the same effect, with different elements. its like saying fire and blizzard are the same spell, both do damage, just different elements. You guys just need to get on the same damn page and try understanding where the other is coming from. I can see both points validly, maybe youre both just assuming the other is wrong somehow. What point is trying to be proved anyways?

The argument started because of the different names for the spells that seem to do the same thing between the DoM classes (Reraise/Soulward, Raise/ Resurrect).

If raise costs MP, and resurrect costs TP, or if raise has less of a weakness penalty, then the spells are different even if both result in reviving the player.

As you said though, the point is moot.

It's always been my impression that this just means paralysis. Perhaps they just gave it overcomplicated flavor text. Paralysis would be when some parts of the target are incapacitated, but the target remains functional as a whole. Also, in the games that I'm familiar with, numbing usually means paralysis.

It'd be just so nice if they took a page from a dozen of their own games and made mobs with various body parts that you can target. Haven't seen any mention of it yet though ;/

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

I dont see why they couldn't do this for large NM's or boss fights the same way they do it in single player FF games. I would imagine it would be very difficult to do for general mobs.

Also, if they added if for normal mobs, then it should realistically be added for players too. How annoying would it be to be killed by an easy mob because they got a lucky hit on your legs and your lying face down while they wail on you?
