Is rare noone mention this here, i guess due the chat log speed of hell, but found a "curious" npc seller.
"(name NPC "Elvan"): Qiqirn finds good goods. Goods goods for you, yes? Good gil for me, yes? "
First action came to my mind was... shout: CLINCK CLINCK!
But still is curious. The NPC sellers there, come from diferents cities, some of them with diferents types of "speak". But this one... maybe a "PH" of one of our friends Qiqirin in the future?
Summary: There's an NPC that talks like a Qiqirn.
Oh I loved fighting those little buggers. Especially those that ran away and "called" for help (linking others). Oh, gewd ol times....
random question since this is my first time playing alpha (friend is letting me play). I though passive mode gradually restores hp/mp, but its only restoring my HP?
Mp can only by recovered at the Aetherites and using specific mp recovering skills.
MP/HP potions, other restoration medicines and food will be quite important which i really like. These things will help keep demand high for these crafts and potential profit also, high. If i'm not mistaken someone from the alpha said that a food item healed a small amount of HP? It would be interesting to have food items that act like potions with there still being food items that increase ones stats. For MP management i saw mention of a class that will sort of help with this purpose, probably the heavy refresher and light cure type spells that recover ones MP along with lowering the cost of someones next spell, something like that, i believe.
Spoiler: show
it might either be a PH for a qiqirn, or maybe just this guy telling you about them..
at the very least we know there'll be qiqirn in XIV.
more about leveling up.
more stat points..
15 - 120
17 - 130
and a clarification on skill proficiency and skill points...
they're the same thing.
however, it seems as though the proficiency you "gain" per battle isn't really yours until the battle is done.
if you can look closely at the battle log for skill proficiency and skill points,
skill points = sum of all proficiency gained in that battle
so leveling classes is really just a skill up fest with a twist.
you don't get skill points unless the monster is defeated, and you can only rank up on skill points.. so you can't just go around and randomly hit mobs and run away / deaggro them to rank up since proficiency doesn't mean anything until the mob is killed.
probably designed this way to prevent abuse of the system.
still no idea what determines whether you gain skill proficiency in battle or not.. but at least it seems that skill points per battle is purely dependent on what you do in battle.
as an added note.
as long as you're in range of the mob that dies, u get exp
you wont get any skill points if you didn't gain any skill proficiency, and if you didn't touch the mob at all, then you obviously wouldn't get anything either.
in other words, exp can be leeched, skill points cannot.
also it seems you can gain exp and skill points even when KOed lol
That makes sense.
I was grouped up with a bunch of people last night and the conjurer was saying he was getting very little skill points for a fight if all he did was heal. It seems not only doing something to the mob, but also what you do has an effect on this.still no idea what determines whether you gain skill proficiency in battle or not.. but at least it seems that skill points per battle is purely dependent on what you do in battle.
I can also confirm this. I got exp and skill points several times despite being dead when a mob died.also it seems you can gain exp and skill points even when KOed lol
