thats tough![]()
I'm probably going to just do the card and a little message thing, im in college and any money I have is from them (most of it anyway) so no use in buying anything of any other value. I'd agree with at least always talking to your parents every once in a while, they deserve something for making you who you are, even if they did a shitty job. You'll probably regret it in some way after they are gone if you didn't.
There's no need to feel like you're going to mess up a thread with that. You're speaking the truth.
This last year my mother and her sister finally went down to see their father after around 20 years. He walked out on them and they felt terrible about it for a long time. They did reconcile and I know they felt much better about it. He died a few months later and I'm glad they were able to see him once again on good terms.
My sister and I are going to cook a nice meal for my mother like we've done the past few years. She enjoys it and I think it's a nice payback for the thousands she made for us.
I just tell her happy mother's day, not much else.
depressing thread
Taking my mumsy to Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles (she likes that place) for dinner. Not sure where to take her beforehand.
Going to have to stop plowing the visiting GF at some point to get momma some goodies for Mother's Day.
I have to send my mom flowers and a gift cause she's so far away ;_;
I also live pretty far from my mom, so I'll also be sending something. Last year I sent her an arrangement from http://www.ediblearrangements.com. It was relatively inexpensive (~$65, less than one of the nicer flower arrangements I was thinking about sending), and even came with a card, balloon, and a teddy bear because that's how my mom fucking rolls. She loved it, but I really didn't necessarily want to do the same thing again this year.
Mother's Day and my mom's birthday are pretty much the 2 days out of the year we let her run shit and she gets the awesome treatment(sucks they are so close together, her birthday is on Tuesday). Generally we start the day off with some homemade stuff, my dad makes her breakfast in bed, me and my bro make her favorite cake + split the dinner cost and she pretty much decides where she wants to go. Generally it's this Spain restaurant on 7th Avenue in Manhattan. Also we have to fit in the family church event that she enjoys doing on her birthday and Mother's day.
When I was in Rochester I sent her a Macy's gift card cause she loves that place + 1 of those edible arrangements.
I have a hard time trying to find gifts for my mom... We are really close. She is into breeding / showing pugs so last year I put together this picture frame that had pictures of a bunch of her favorite pugs... I found this reallllly nice box that someone on DeviantART made with a gorgeous pug print burned into the top, but I don't know if he will sell it to me...
Gonna take my mom out to her favorite sushi place in Berkeley and catch up over dinner. Ever since I moved out a few years ago, my parents have been feeling a bit lonely, I think.
I don't even know what to get my mom. If my mom wants something, she just gets that shit herself.
