I hope I'm not the only one that lol'd that Len Kravitz wrote it.
When I run, I just want something to help me zone out and keep going.
When I lift, it definitely helps to have some badass music blasting in your ears. My personal favorite workout album is "The Fall of Ideals" from All That Remains. Phillip Labonte screaming murder at you makes you want to lift like a motherfucker.
On days I use my punching bag it's Rise Against or gtfo.
Getting technical about why you're listening to music will only spoil this thread. The fast pace mixes keep you in rhythm when running pretty easily. At the same time, the music helps pass the time going by while running as well.
There's no need to be so critical about it. Who cares if the music is used to pump you up or pass the time? It's considered music that you would listen to while working out, end of story.
My current gym mix

Listen to DMX, especially Ruff Ryders Anthem.
We should go tear up a club broski. I practice my fist pumping on my punching bag, so it's gonna be fuckin epic.
For cereal though, Rise Against is awesome for anything that might produce adrenalin. I listened to it when I used to parkour. There's a really old parkour video on Youtube that used "Give It All" as the music, got me into them.
I like to listen to live albums when working out, brings more energy to the table for me.
Slayer, Metallica, Medgadeth, Exodus, Testament, etc.
Yeah I'm old.
Sounds like I also need to check out this Pandora app. Never heard of it before.
Yeah, I first got introduced to them when I was 16 or so. I had been ice-skating for a while and decided to start playing hockey, but the games were absolutely killing me because I was getting winded after the first period while playing forward. Rise Against was my energy music that I listened to while trying to increase my laughable power-skating endurance, and really got into the best shape of my life during this period, lol. Still trying to get back thereI bike 20 miles every other day, or so, but it's slow going, lol. They're still in my line-up though
as demonstrated in my current play-list
