    Insurance Rates ranking by state

    http://finance.yahoo.com/insurance/a...nsurance-autos

A bit from article: What's behind states' different rates?

According to Insure.com, states' different laws are partly to blame. "Our findings show that the financial ramifications of specific state laws and regulations are driving high rates in certain states," Amy Danise, senior managing editor of Insure.com, said in a statement. "No matter how good your own driving record is, you're paying for the decisions of lawmakers."

contrast, population levels may be why certain states are at the bottom of the list. According to Ms. Danise, the states with the lowest insurance costs tend to be more rural. Maine, for instance, may have low auto insurance rates because its highways are less crowded, which may mean fewer crashes over all.

The most and least expensive states for car insurance:

    Rank State Avg. Premium

    1 Louisiana $2,510.87
    2 Michigan $2,098.29

I know why NM is so high up there, might be the same reason for LA. Lots of uninsured drivers + lots of DW/UI's.

Considering that New Hampshire does not require insurance (The only State that doesn't I might add), I would give little creedence to that assumption.

Kind of funny how a State that does not mandate insurance is one of the lowest. Well, not funny. To be expected actually.

    Go go NH!

how the hell is NJ ranked so low? 10 years ago NJ's were the highest in the nation, so high in fact that most insurance companies wouldn't even issue policies to NJ residents lol

lol at Louisiana. The roads in New Orleans are extremely shitty and the traffic in Baton Rouge is terribad, worse than downtown Atlanta.

Couldn't be cause there are barely any people there, 99% of whom are whiter than all the rice in China (also why Maine/Utah/Vermont are so low despite their mandated insurance herrdeerderp). Also yeah, w/ no mandate, only white people who have the money to buy it will instead of all the young folks/minorities who fuck the insurance pools up for the rest of us yay libertarianism. But anyways, yeah NH hardly proves w/ free market bullshit point you want to prove, if it was a state whose demographics/economy were indicative of the country sure, but NH?

So, White people drive better than non-White people? What the fuck? Sometimes I wonder about the left. Why are you guys so infatuated with skin color? Stop projecting your insecure views all ready.

This post is nothing more than the biggest racist bigotry I've witnessed in quite a while. Congratulations.

I'll also keep in mind that you think a 1,000,000 sample size is too small to come to any conclusions.

Stop acting so righteous. While ethnicity may directly play no role in actual accidents, statistics back up the notion that white drivers have fewer accidents, and insurance companies are allowed to use this information in assigning premiums.

Funny how this seems to also justify higher male premiums. In before "You're sexist!"

So, I'm acting righteous when I say that the color of ones skin plays no factor in determining the skill of the driver. Wow, amazing. Can you tell me how pigment in epidermis makes you either a better or worse driver. Thanks.

As for Insurance Companies, they could charge whatever they wanted at whatever prices they wanted, so long as it wasn't compulsory. End the compulsion. End the Mandate!

You didn't even read what I wrote did you? Here I'll write it again and read the bold part.

    Again.

Insurance companies are allowed to use this information in assigning premiums

Did you get it that time? If not:

Stop acting like it doesn't matter when companies clearly use the information. Just because you want to close your eyes and put your fingers in your ears while shouting "NANANANA CAN'T HEAR YOUR RACISM" doesn't mean it isn't being done.

10 years ago my rate for 6 months was the same as the number on the list above for a full year. I can't imagine it's gone down that drastically. Something's askew.

Thanks Pirian, I was busy writing a paper that's due in <2hrs, about covered what I had to say.

And it's not that the 1,000,000 sample size is bad for statistical analysis, just that you cannot come to good conclusions because of the relative homogeneity of New Hampshire. On the other hand, Ohio would make for a much better test case due to it being so much more racially/economically indicative of the country at large.

edit: Also, rereading my original post, I never said that skin color determines your driving ability.

Also yeah, w/ no mandate, only white people who have the money to buy it will instead of all the young folks/minorities who fuck the insurance pools up for the rest of us
Is the strongest racially charged sentence, but as Pririan has demonstrated the contents are not inaccurate. Young folks (especially men) are the ones that are the bad drivers, but never did I say that either group was a bad driver, just that they fuck up the insurance pool (there are other ways to do so other than being a 'worse driver'. See: Higher car theft, fender benders etc in an urban environment)

I don't see how this is a good thing. Wouldn't this mean that these same minorities you think I'm racist towards and the same guys that Pirian is sexist towards would get fucked in the ass because their penis/skin color could be seen as a pre-existing condition precluding them from coverage?
