Pointless arguement ;x let it go
Shot in the dark, but total damage done divided by total # of seconds in combat.
As in, there's no point in having a "higher DPS" as you are using if once you add in WS/Barrage it is lower than the other weapon. OAT has lower DPS by the formula you are using, but guess what, it occasionally attacks twice for extra dmg and TP, imagine that....
Looking for some input into the gear I should be aiming to get to maximise the output for my future Yoichi (stage 4 right now).
Just received my stage 4 yesterday, so I haven't had much time investigating the best set up for the gear that I have available. This is what I quickly put together from what I have:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...GearSets-1.jpg
- Axe Grip both RNG & SAM
- V.belt
- Toreador's Ring
- ACP (Don't have the body yet, but have the key item for the fight, will augment Snap Shot and Rattk)
- AMKD Agi4 Str4 WSDMG4% WSACC15
- Will replace aesir earring with Bushi when I can get DM done. Likewise for 2nd RNG TP/WS ear.
- Also have novia and delta earrings available for -enmity.
- Sold 2 Hachi Pants to fund my relic, so enkidu is my only available option at the moment.
- Waiting on Skadi 25 legs to drop to complete skadi pants.
- Waiting on usukane 15 feet to drop to complete usu feet.
- Once usu feet is complete will look to get a wyvern earring for /drg.
- 5/5 STP on SAM.
- Ace's Helm + Hauby +1 are also available options.
I know getting a good STP build for RNG is important, Mekki Shaki + rose strap, but I'm unsure what gear I have available will complement that build.
Looking forward to the suggestions and criticisms![]()
for tp- you should be using meat, so acc is out.
wyvern earring and haub+1 a must. Also get a better acc neck like PCC or AT. Another thing to do (though after namas I am not sure how much stp you need to hit 100 in 6 hit) you can get a rose strap and ecphoria ring which will be a better upgrade. If your not worried about having a true 6-hit then I think you can get away with sword strap and still keep 6 hit after namas, and since namas rarely misses thats safe enough.
Maybe I am wrong but no wyvern earring scares me, and askar over alternatives.
For my SAM (without bow) I'm using: askar body, rajas, brutal, atilla's earring to maintain a 6 hit build.
Until I finish my usu feet, it's my best option I think. Maintaining a high haste build with 6hit.
I haven't looked into the actual TP returns on my Yoichi builds (with gear I have available) at the moment so I am unsure if I can drop the askar body for haub+1 and still maintain a 6hit without the use of usu feet.
Going to have to sit down and do some calculations![]()
I went to your ffxiah page, so if it's different, take that into account in my comments.
1) you have too little acc on the sam yoichi tp to not use sushi. Better than sushi tho is meat (as Aza said) and upgrading to ancient torque and hauby +1.
2) overall then these sam yoichi builds should work for merit (birds), salvage and town dynamis (could be some other dynamis as well.) Drace had some good posts in some threads long ago that might give some insight. I'm sure there are some other places this can work, so don't take that as a limitation. As a starting point, any place you can hit 85-90% melee (with good haste and a 6-hit build) while using food that gives you ranged attack will be viable.
3) upgrade the behemoth ring. Fowling earring, I'm not sure of the point. BTW, novia will never be needed for a sam spamming namas, much less a sam/drg, not that I think you'd use it.
4) on the rng yoichi build I see 10 stp which is too much if you are /sam and too little if you're not. The best easy quick fix is brutal (since you need 1 stp just on the tp phase) for non /sam. For /sam, if these are your gear choices, then you can swap to other pieces if they become optimal in rings + legs.
5) you might consider a third build for aftermath effect on rng tp. The effect is noticeable and you'll either have overkill on the racc then or be too low when its off.
6) a strong 5-hit build is very achievable on rng with /sam. Various combinations of mekki, rose strap, skadis, hachi pants-legs, and rajas which will give you (for example) 19 stp on ranged phase and 14 on WS will make a 5-hit on /sam. Since you have "won" campaign, you have access to rose, and you appear to already have some skadis done or on the way. Hachis are expensive but available. Mekkis are typically easier to get than most of these.
Just added this to my enfeebling gearMy first AF+1 piece.
http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q...606_122733.jpg
Also I got Nashira Crackows, they're in my enfeebling macros as well now.
So, someone told me the af+1 body is better than relic body for resting... 1mp refresh vs. 5hMP. Which would you choose?
5hMP beats 1 refresh a tic. The exception is for the first tic, which lasts longer, but I normally just /heal for that for a few seconds in refresh gear, then swap into hMP.
my healing macro is as follows:
//exec hmp.txt
/equip body "Dalmatica"
/heal
/wait 18
/equip body "Errant Hpl."
basically, hmp ticks every 10 seconds, after an initial 20 seconds, so refresh (which is 1 tick of mp per 3 seconds) is the equivalent of 3.3 mp per tick, making +5 hmp better.
So pulling out my NIN so I can remake it's spellcast and get ready to take it to 80, but it still needs a lot of work:
From Left to right: Night Max Haste TP set -> Day TP set (And Night High ACC TP set) -> Day WS -> Night WS.
Back and Ranged get swapped to Culc/Bomblet based on whether im in ACC or Haste TP mode.
Not going to put obvious shit like PDT/MDT/Emnity/fast cast/spell interupt/ninjutsu sets, as those are pretty intuitive.

Things I know I need to improve:
1. Rajas ring + another Str ring (trying for str/dex augment ring) for WS. I have sattva and use that for Pld hp/emnity, Thf TA, Mnk Chalkra, Nin Emnity.. So it's hard to give up.
2. Better acc ring(s) during TP phase.
3. AMK head (WS acc and such), that would really help my WS acc/damage.
4. Maybe a different earring than ethereal for WS?
5. Not sure if Usu body > Hauby+1 for WS, probably depends on WS acc and attack.
6. Different WS feet?
I'm going to work on Mozu/OAT Katana, but I'm waiting till update to see how the weapons are expanded.
^ That confused me too...
Your sets really confuse me.. The first set leaves you a pretty good distance from capped with crab sushi, and still uncapped with sole+1. Your high-Acc set puts you drastically over with sushi, and drastically under with meat.
Edit: For your max-haste, ditch the helm, put on your bomblet and PCC(if available), get rid of your rings and pick up some +5 Acc rings. That'll put you right at the cap with crab sushi assuming that's a Swift Belt, right below it if its not.
Did you add in Culc's Mantle and Bomblet into full usu set? I dont think I'm "drastically" under cap while eating meat with full usu, bomblet/culc, and full katana merits.
I am pretty far under cap while eating meat in the Full Haste Night TP set. But again you need to add katana merits, culc, and bomlet.
I think I do need keep Turban in my Night HasteTP set, and just use Acubens for recast and for low end mobs though..
Colibri: 334-339 Evasion.
My Acc: 292 skill (so 200 + .9*92 = 282.8 acc) + 70 base dex (35 acc) + 20 dex from gear in TP set(10 acc) + gear acc (5 perdu, 16 usu body, 7 usu head, 10 usu hands, 2.5 usu legs, 7 usu feet, 7 back, 7 ammo = 61.5 acc + 8.5 from rings = 70 acc).
That's a total of 282.8+35+10+70 = 397.8 acc.
Lvl 81-82:
6-7 lvl difference:
Acc penalty = 4acc/level * 6 levels = 24 acc penalty (or 28 for 82 lvl)
Hit-rate = 75% + (-24 + 58 or 63 acc (depending on lvl)) * 0.5% = 75%+19.5% = 94.5% hit rate for the lvl 81 colibri.
And that's with no Innin or food.
So it looks like I just need to remove Acubens helm from Night TP set and add in 12 more acc to stay at acc cap while keeping the higher Night Haste/DW stats.
Right? Anything wrong with my math?
May have miscounted a tad, I'll take another look later.
