And you're not really getting the idea here. You're running scared because you don't know what your assistant principal said to your parents. That shit ain't maturity. Man up, talk to your parents. It might even be good news unless they have a history of beating you senseless over wire hangars.

ok you read my original post. Now did you read the post you just wrote. You said, or tried to say, that I was asking people online for help in trying to hide my report card from my parents. I am not trying to hide it from them. They didn't trust me and choose to go to my school to check up on my grades, and that's perfectly fine. I just wanted advice on how to approach the situation. Thank you for your opinion.

Just talk to your parents and explain your reasoning behind not giving them the report card. If it is really that big of a deal to them, just concede to the point and agree to no longer withhold academic info since they show so much interest. Problem solved.

This isn't one of those battles that's worth fighting. Save that for something serious.

    Universal advice for teenagers:

Don't waste time arguing with your parents. First off, they're probably right. Second, even if they aren't, that doesn't mean you're going to win. Just comply with their wishes and move on with your life.

Don't put too much stock in your current beliefs. They WILL change as you get older. I still believe maybe 1 in 50 things that I believed as a teenager, and that's an optimistic estimate. Even the couple things I DO still believe from then are for completely different reasons than originally. I can't even read anything I wrote as a teenager without /facepalming. What this means is, don't argue something "for the principle of it". Don't try to prove any points. Hell, this piece of advice would probably last until you die. I'm sure people in their 40's think the same thing about when they were in their 20's and so on.

Unless your parents are complete idiots (they don't sound like they are), they are probably right about every single thing they tell you (not counting useless trivia or random facts). Heed their advice!! They've likely forgotten some of the stuff that they'd learned in school and you might even be able to show them up on something like that, but their life experience is worth a thousand times as much as your smartass correction of their grammar/math/history or whatever piece of useless information you're trying to show off. Even if you are technically smarter than your parents (better at figuring things out, better memory, wittier, etc), they still know more than you.

    tl;dr
Shut up and do what you're told. You'll be better off for it.

I don't show my parents my report card cause I see no need because I get letters from colleges like Princeton and Harvard and stuff (high psat).
I want your life where my big problem is that my parents might ask to look at my '94 GPA' report card and I don't know what to do about it because I've always not shown it to them in the past.

Yea, sorry... GPA's are out of 4.0. Everything else is retarded.

If a 94/100 isn't good enough for your parents then that's not something you're doing wrong... that just means they're fucked up. Freud, trying to impose their own selfish needs on the child, etc.

Man up and talk to them about your grades. This isn't a life problem, this is stupid.

    94/100 isn't a 95.

I'd have to agree... just show them the damn report card and talk to them straight up about your grades. Why do you need our opinion about it? It's really a non-issue, as others have said.

Honestly, are they that much of a hardass? Where an amazing GPA of 94 is not good enough for them? Geez. I would die for a GPA of 94. Best I ever got was a 4.0...

I think you're assuming too much, making baseless assumptions, about the reasons for them to go to your principal or assistant principal. Maybe they care about your grades? Hell, if they do, those are some great parents you have there..and all you worry about is punishment and negative repercussions? I think you need to do some reality testing...

Seriously... c'mon. I mean, I know teenage/high school years can be a bit of a whirlwind or awkward... I hate to be mean, but I have to agree, this is pretty petty and stupid. Perhaps you believe this is the end of the world, but think about it. This is a no-brainer. I don't know why you don't believe your parents should know about your grades unless they were parents that never really cared anyway. But given that they cared enough to be active and go to your school, I think they do care... So stop being lame/stubborn/a teenager. Talk to them.

Are you Asian, because that seems to be the only logical problem.

This is a bizarre thread. There is some critical detail about the OPs family life and dynamic that we aren't hearing. Otherwise, a lot of the behavior on both his side and his parents end doesn't make sense.

if i got a 94/100, my parents would beat me with a rose stem for an hour, and then tell me to go to my room without dinner. and yeah. i'm asian.

Asianness is probably the missing link here. Ungrateful americanized kids, and FOB parents.

I'm behind Pirian on this. One thing you need to understand is that your reasoning really doesn't matter in this situation. Your parents have many years on you and that means they know more than you do. You might be smarter, but wisdom comes with age kid, and that's very much true. I'm sure this is true for many others, but every few years I look back at how I was earlier in my life and think "man I was such an idiot back then". When I was in college I thought I was an idiot for how I acted in high school, when I was done college I thought I was an idiot for how I acted in college, etc. I understand the reasoning for why parents would want to know this stuff and like Pirian said, there are lots of people that would loved to have had parents that care so much.

I was a good bit like you in high school, wanted to be all on my own, share nothing with my parents, I'm smart enough, etc. but now...I wish I let my parents be more active in my life and that they would have tried to push me back in high school. It could've made a major difference in where I am in my life now.

Put yourself in the position of your parents. You have a kid in school. You wonder how he's doing. You haven't seen a report card in a while. The natural presumption at this point would be that your kid is withholding less-than-satisfactory grades. You feel a sense of dissapointment but you decide against confrontation. Instead, you take time out of your schedule to visit school and find out what's really going on.

Dude, they've lost trust in you. If you truly have nothing to hide, go earn it back. And as said already, be glad they're there and that they care.

No offence, but asking your kid for his report card isn't confrontational, it's what a parent's supposed to do. Going straight to the school for that reason is a bit odd, but there's probably a bit more to it than we're hearing. As a kid you should be giving your results to your parents without fail though. Waiting a few hours or a day to gather up your courage or so if it's terrible might be okay, not showing because you don't think it's important isn't.

Maybe your results slipped a little for a certain course, maybe a new hobby you've picked up is causing some decline, etc. Can't tell that from ivy league letters, so yeah, just talk to them and apologise for not showing straight away. Parents are pretty reasonable as long as you're reasonable with them.

I don't think it was ever confirmed that his parents went to the school about his report card. It could be completely unrelated.

I'm more surprised about the number of retards who were genuinely confused about what a "94 GPA" is, and that having every single poster make the same comment about it in each response.
