Okay I just got to rant about this... and maybe a few ppl have experienced this before with BG but their "professionalism" with moderating their boards is flawed.

I myself am a website admin and moderator and have been for a decade ._. I moderated boards just as huge if not bigger than BG before and not only that I am working on my master's project which is related to art courses and using a message board system to develop a community for art students to learn in. So I think I know a weeeeee bit more than BG mods do with professionalism.

Now, granted Derfthegalka is a funny guy and I know him irl and he's very care free but he and I know how far to go on a message board. But at times I think that some moderators, which are young and inexperienced at actually doing their job right, get too self-absorbed into their job and ban like crazy over their own personal feelings. That is NOT how you treat people.

The phrase to put it mildly is called "godmodding." Kids put up a message board and then it becomes popular... then some mods actually go powercrazy over that type of power and think that they can do whatever that they want.

We all know our fun luving Derfthegalka really doesn't break any rules. He doesn't spark fights but actually its the other way around- posters replying spark the fights and Derf's original messages don't even provoke that.

Anyway, what this all came down too was him being banned from BG.... not once but so far twice! Now the first time, Derf was banned because FFXI nerds were raging on Derf for his spelling and grammar.. hay last time I checked this was a free country..er..internet. Apparently that doesn't apply to BG because he was banned because and I quote, "the mod that banned you couldn't stand reading his posts." WELL DON'T READ HIS POSTS THEN! lol BG has a flawed system, they just BAN you... no email warning nothing. And it's one thing to be kicked off of a board- its another being BANNED flat out where you can no longer see the message board. That is just wrong especially since no warning was made prior... but apparently, their rubric rules which one has to memorize in the back of their heads has to be constantly be in your mind all the damn time. And mind you, I've written REAL professional disclaimers for message boards and I know prolly even more than they do with what a poster can and cannot do. Well Derf also knows this too.... again, he's not as dumb as you all think ~.^

All I know is that we had a starlight celebration sig made actually from some other poster as a spoof with Derf's face on it... then the BG name was screen captured and put on the sig... now seriously... really... honestly... how fucking immature is that to get ansy over? lol Like that really is something that merits a ban... again, abuse of power anyone??

I am sure we aren't the only ones that got mistreated like this by BG... if you think about it what is so big about that place anyway? If I felt like it DTG.com can be bigger than them but I am not a nerd with lots of money to blow and connections with the development team... like that really matters since the posters put up majority of the news on that board which makes it sooo popular.

Whenever Derf posts he generates a HUGE amount of attention and that also equals to exposure to google adsense.... really, Derf is a gold mine rofl and the funniest poster that ever posted on a FFXI forum. Honestly, Derf and myself aren't missing BG or even KI really, we think they are uptight and too submissive to the status quo and conformity of idiots who play backseat moderator. LAST time I checked FFXI was suppose to be FUN and players are suppose to be enjoying themselves. Now I am not going to justify every single REAL Troll or nuisances from real bad posters because I've been there done that as a mod and had to warning/ban them-- but Derf is clearly not a troll or a nuisance because he never starts arguments or makes off FFXI related topics.... just the replies from ppl who ARE off topic is when Derf is. I am seeing if I can get Derf to post here exclusively and especially his movies since he isn't appreciated elsewhere...

Hiya, I usually send emails to mods and admins so that they understand what is going on with my character Derfthegalka.

If you met me and my friend @ fanfest then you know that this is a spoof of noobs. However, some... okay a lot of players get the wrong idea from the beginning and totally take this character too seriously.

When me or my friend write in character etc we mean no harm and it IS meant as a joke but again, some people immediately see an opportunity to cause drama and to try and get Derf banned.

I generally try my best to stay on the topic of posts I make but some ppl purposely take the topic off and try and turn it into a hatefest. Not everybody hates Derf, ironically, there are more ppl that love the character than hate it. But that's just how the character is- and how ppl's tastes are.

I know the mods on KI and they actually know that it is a joke as well, but they were forced by complainers to moderate Derfthegalka's posts because after 5 years certain whiners kept whining about Derf w/e I posted. I work with the KI admins to keep Derf in check.

When I came over here, I hope to bring another dimension of the character but with the recent and only topic I posted- many ppl who are clamering to see who can ban Derf for their own enjoyment- are trying the same tactic on KI.

I run a community website for over 10 years and realize the limits to a message board behavior and I am a story writer/fine artist and web designer. I know Derf can be percieved as over the top but I know that certian ppl will try and get Derf banned over here even for things that I haven't done or violated any rules-- because Derf is popular they want to attack it.

Anyway, I am pming so that you know first hand what this is all about and if you can talk to the other mods. If you need for me to compromise etc... please tell me and I'll do it. I'll try my very best to refrain from any rule breaking- but often, if not all the time, it is actually the readers that rule break trying to debunk Derfthegalka and get him in trouble.
