    Computer Randomly Restarts

Computer has been giving me problems for the passed 2 weeks. It randomly restarts and then will produce a error report everytime I restart

    OS: Windows 7
    Ram: 4 Gigs
    GPU: Nvidia 9800 GT
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0

I believe the error report is pointing to a sound card issue (apparently Soundblaster Audigy and Windows 7 dont get along)

Here is the error report. Can someone else confirm the soundcard or other issue?

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 124
    BCP1: 00000000
    BCP2: 86092024
    BCP3: B2000040
    BCP4: 00000800
    OS Version: 6_1_7600
    Service Pack: 0_0
    Product: 768_1

That doesn't really help, we'd need either a screenshot of the blue screen or a copy of the minidumps

I have copies of the minidumps .. quite a few of them. I can either email you the last one or try to open one and copy/paste it. I also wrote down the 4-5 codes on the last blue screen which were

    0x00000124 (0x00000000, 0x85ffc024, 0xB2000040, 0x000000800)

Blue screen also said it was a hardware malfunction. I couldnt exactly screenshot it XD

Well, you can take a picture of it with a camera but whatever

Anyway 124 is a very generic stop error. It's more or less "somewhere, somehow, one of the things in here is fucking up"

First of all, if you're doing any overclocking, revert it to factory defaults. Second, uninstall your video and audio drivers, and get them directly from the manufacturer websites. Don't let Windows install them for you.

Other than that you're going to have to do some basic testing and troubleshooting to narrow down the problems. Start by disconnecting everything you don't need (external drives, gamepads, etc) and see if the BSOD keeps coming up. Run memtest86+, chkdsk, and any other diagnostic software you have to test your components. And run a malware/virus scan, just in case.

Ok. Ran the malware/virus scanners. Not doing any overclocking and have temp sensors up to test for overheating. Gonna uninstall my audio driver since I got the latest nvidia ones last night and we'll see if thats whats doing it. If not will start with other hardware

As Cephius said BCCode 124 indicates that something concerning your hardware may be faulty. (very generic indeed)

    Try these:

    1) Fix any thermal problems. (clean any dust out of the computer, make sure the fans are all running, adequate cooling paths) This is good to do regardless if it helps the error or not.

    2) Check to make sure all your hardware is running and installed correctly.

    3) Check your memory sticks. Take out one stick at a time and see if it still gives you the error.

    4) Run a CPU diagnostic. If your CPU is faulty it will cause this error.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

Well since you think it's the sound card, why don't you pull it out and run your PC w/o it for a while. Unless you've already tried that, then you can just ignore my post.
