Arvin's post is mostly right. Here are my house rules:

-2 in a row, call heating up. 3 in a row is on fire, you get balls back until you miss.
    -both teammates make, balls back
-both in same cup, drink 3, other team gets to pick which.
-if shooter misses and grabs his ball before it touches the ground, gets to shoot behind his back (gentleman's shot)
-when one team's last cup is made, other team gets to shoot until they miss. If they tie, both teams get 1 beer in 3 cuts for overtime
-balls back on last cups = no rebuttal
-bounce is 2 cups, can be blocked
    -guys finger, girls blow
-finish your drink before you shoot
-if you don't make a single cup before the game is over you are "trolled," and must sit under the table, speaking only in rhymes and drinking one full beer during the next game

Here is how our house rules play out (Beirut):

    Start
    • If it is the start of a series, both teams do an "eye-to-eye" shot. Team to sink goes first. If a tie, next partners go.
    • If the winning team plays the next consecutive game, they get to go first.

    Cup Management
    • Simply put, ten cups minimum during regular play.
    • Two re-racks standard if there are six or less cups in play.
    • All cups with beer in them are in play (see below for special rules).
    • Re-Racks that are acceptable are - "3-2-1" ; "Diamond" ; "Jesus Piece/Cross" ; "Zipper" ; "Bozo Buckets"

    Shot rules
    • Every partner gets one shot each, special rules apply.
    • If both partners score a cup, they get "Bring-Backs" and both get to shoot again.
    • If both partners score the SAME cup, it is game over.
    • If a cup is scored upon, but the player has not finished the beer, the cup is still in play.
    • Continued from above...if said cup is scored upon again, it is game over.
    • If a shot misses but stays on the table, and the shooter or his/her partner get the ball before it hits the ground, the original shooter can shoot again (Behind the back).
    • A bounce shot that scores counts as two cups, but the defenders can swat away once the ball hits the table.
    • If a ball hits a rim or rolls on the rim and lands in a different cup, both of those cups (or multiple) are considered scored upon. Again, defenders can swat once the ball touches a cup.
    • No Blowing or Fingering allowed. Simply a sanitary rule because of idiots flipping multiple cups onto the floor.
    • All shots must be made with the elbow behind the table (or some other arbitrary line).

    NBA Jam
    • Jam rules follow a 1-2-3 in a row system.
    • One person must make three shots in a row to execute "On Fire".
    • On the second in a row shot, player must shout "Heating Up" to activate Jam rule.
    • On the third shot in a row, player's partner must shout "On Fire" to activate Jam rule.
    • Jam allows the shooter to shoot until they miss. All rules still apply.

    Gentlemen Rules
    • No psyche outs.
    • No bouncing; consequently no swatting.
    • The only special rule that applies is rim shots.

    End Game
    • Once all cups are scored upon, the game is "over".
    • Rebuttals are allowed when the last cup is only scored by one player.
    • There are no rebuttals if both partners score on the last cup/two cups consecutively.
    • A rebuttal consists of a three on three cup playoff. Gentlemen rules apply.
    • If the playoff ends in a rebuttal, another playoff is instated.
    • Number of playoffs varies with party size and beer amount.

    It's Beirut guys.

I honestly don't get the same cup instant death. 95% of our games lead off with a 2 balls, 1 cup shot even with a larger than regulation table and even regularly match the same cup. I understand the make the cup currently off the table being drank, but while they're on the table just meh.

We have a couple of reracks, but we generally do 3-2-1, Diamond, Pussy w/ Clit and Stoplight/Line of Coke. We have a couple of house reracks, like a hexagon (Otherwise known as the Chelsea James).

We also do bouncebacks into your own cup, if you bounce on a rack, and it comes back on your own cups, or you finger a ball out into one of your own cups, it gets drank.

The reason we have the two shots = death is so defenders don't get lazy and just stand there with their mouths gaping open. It keeps both sides on their toes. We also eliminated synchronized shooting for this reason. It was a kind of win - lose situation but we dealt with it.

Also, the bounce back in cup thing is also one of our rules, forgot to put it in because it almost NEVER happens. It's funny when it does, though.

I'm guessing they play "Pull Cup" in which you have to pull the cup right after the ball is sunk otherwise it's game.

For our house once a cup is made you need to pull it away asap or if its hit twice its game over.

pull cup is the only way to play, fucking scrubs and your leaving of cups that's wrong.
2 balls one cup = game over
and if you shoot the ball into a cup someone's drinking out of (from the beerpong table, side beers don't count) then it's also game over
    NBA jams
bounces are two (can hit em away)
    both people make = rollback
on-table roll backs = shot behind the back
other team drinks everything they didn't make (no retribution)

    You niggas talking about Beirut.
    Truth.

And playing with water is a bitch move, that's not even fucking ruit.

Anyways, I play with these rules:

    - Ten cups
    - Two people to a team
    - Three shots per team
    - Bounce shot = two cups, but opposing team can swat away bounce
    - If a team shoots two balls in the same cup before the opposing team can remove it, game over
    - If a team shoots a ball in one of the opposing team member's non-drunk cups (I.E. a cup that has been moved out of play before being drank or an undranken cup in an opposing team member's hand), game over
    - 1 re-rack per game, cannot re-rack into a shape that goes deeper into the table than the starting formation
    - If the formation is such that there is an isolated cup, a player can call "solo" on that cup
    - Solo = 2 cups
    - Solo can only be called on the same cup once per turn
    - A player cannot call solo if every cup in the formation is a solo
    - If a team sinks every shot in a given turn, they get another turn (known as "balls back")
    - If a team misses a shot, but a member is able to grab the ball while it's still on the table, it is known as a "rollback"
    - With a rollback shot, a player may take a normal shot, but the opposing team has the opportunity to swat this shot away
    - If the player with the rollback takes a behind-the-back shot, the opposing team cannot touch the ball in the air
    - Players can only finger the ball if there is a woman on the table, blowing is for fags so none of that shit
    - At the end of the game, the losing team gets "balls +1" amount of misses to sink the remaining cups to send it into overtime
    - Ten cup overtime is six cup, two ball
    - If another the game is sent into another overtime, that overtime is played with three cups and one ball

Not even. Leaving the cup allows for other rules to come into play(both participants sink into same cup = either 3 cups or explosion(all cups touching)). The cups are pulled once both participants have shot.

Although, I don't mind which method, personally I'd rather not play pull cup. Games get more exciting when explosions happen.

This. Although pull cup is great for fast games, it's just not fun when people try and shoot and hit you in the face as you're pulling a cup.

I like when I play bitches, because they take their time when they drink their cups, and don't usually cover it up. So they'll hold it out like some dumb broad would, I shoot it in and games over because they don't pay attention

usually people don't go for party cup around here, it's either because they weren't paying attention and left it on the table or both people shot at the same time

also, snowballing is fun, have one person throw regular and the other bounce, if you don't get it in people usually knock a cup or two over depending how drunk they are as they try to swat the bounce away

We had a guy that was notorious for bouncing. Sometimes he'll shoot regularly and the defenders would just swat it out of the sky out of habit. It's fucking hilarious to see their faces when they realize it was a regular shot.

    - 6 cups, 2 people per team, one shot per person per turn
    - 1 Re-rack only
    - We do the fingertip rule for standing distance. If you hold your arm out at the table, the only part of your hand that can touch the table should be your fingertips.
    - Both players sink two different cups on the same turn, they get the balls back (no extra cups)
    - Once a ball is hit it becomes a satellite cup. If someone hits the satellite cup before it is emptied, game ends immediately.
    - If the ball rolls back and you pick it up before it falls off the table, you get a "gentleman's shot" -- men = behind the back, women = under the leg. Hit the gentleman's shot and it's two cups.
    - Guest shots are legal
    - Two for bouncing, can swat it away if it bounces
    - If the ball's spinning on the rim without touching any liquid, men = flick the ball out, women = blow the ball out.
    - Tie game = 3 cup sudden death, Double overtime = rock-paper-scissors or another 3 cups
    - Winner owns the table, gets the first shot next game
    - Shutout = naked lap or something equally embarrassing

    Normal standard house rules:

10 cup racks, 2 person teams
-No bouncing, but you can choose to institute a bouncing rule before the game if both teams want it. (I don't mind it, just started off that way and stuck)
-No fingering or blowing, fuck that shit.
-2 reracks per game, can't rerack before you get down to 6 cups.
-2 balls in same cup is End Game.
-Ball in cup someone is drinking (from the rack) is Death Cup: Game Over.
-If the ball bounces back to your side of the table you can grab it and have a chance for a behind-the-back shot.
-If a team makes both shots that's Rollbacks.
-If a player makes a shot in 2 consecutive turns they say "Heating up" and if they make it on the third consecutive turn they are "On fire" and shoot til they miss.
-An isolated cup (Skill Cup/Point Cup/Island Cup) can be called before the shot. If you make it, that's two cups. If you make it in the wrong cup, the person that shot has to drink one of their own cups.
-Exception: You can't call point cup if it will a) End the game for the other team (i.e. they have 2 cups left) or b) If you make the wrong cup you will end the game for yourself (meaning you only have 1 cup left)
-If one person makes last cup, and their teammate also makes last cup - eliminates chance for rebuttal. Game over.
-Successful rebuttal means a new 3 cup rack.
-If a team wins without their opponents getting a rerack (meaning they have to get down to 6 cups at least), losers have to NAKED RUN down the long ass driveway.

    Exhibit A:
    Spoiler: show
One of these people may or may not be me. Circa ~4 years ago)
WE DID RUN NAKED ON THE WAY BACK! But can't post on FB and I'm pretty sure no one took the naked shot. I've done a number of these over the years...
    http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-a...42875_1896.jpg

I think that's about it. No one else really plays this ruleset, but we always have intense games.

Do you guys play losers drink the rest of the cups? We normally don't because we really just like to play beirut and don't like to go through beer incredibly quick

Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. Usually don't once the beer starts getting low.
