Titan's trial mission 45 Neochu

So is there actually a way to beat this guy without vanille's death spell? I kill him this way in the growth egg mission simply because I wanted the item, but it took me forever...What's a good strategy to taking him down? Because if it wasn't for his damn adds that he summons I would have beat him easily..

Get a SEN with heavy physical reduction, perhaps an earth resist ring and a Ribbon (dismantle Goddess' Favor which you get from Bart when * = Ribbon). Equip other chars with damage reduction and status protection. Snow or Light are your top choices as SEN here ideally (though Light is considerably more fragile obviously).

Fight until 50% should be fairly easy if you want a shot at winning legitimately (be sure to swap in a SEN for Screech, maybe even three?)... after 50%, you want a SEN in the party at all times so adapt your Paradigms accordingly. From hereon in the fight becomes very challenging. Dispel the buffs the Neochu puts on its offspring and just focus on the Neochu since he will just summon more of the minis. Expect a long and drawn out fight - it's very challenging if you're not hugely developed.

After putting some black belts on Fang is made the fight significantly easier... I figured I was buffed enough to take on this fight since I have 3 lv5 jobs with everyone, and their 4th one is at lv3 already..

I actually managed to stick him with an instant stagger, even though it came really late and after he had already summoned twice.. but right after staggering him I called in Odin and took care of the Neochu, then the rest was pretty easy after I dispelga'd the rest of them.

If your worried about the target time. Just come back later when your deeper in the crystalarium roles. When your about 4/6 You will rape it.. Don't even think I needed to use a med or sen for that fight

Yeah I just powered through it, threw enfire on lighting and Fang and went to town.

You can power through it with a little luck. I went with 1 maxed out crystarium role on each of my characters and won on attempt 3 with this setup:

Light - RAV
Fang - SEN
Vanille - MED

Put up all my shrouds, loaded up Fang and Light with ATB gaining abilities on both and Random: Instant Chain on Light. Vanille's items/abilities didn't seem to be too important.

I stuck Fang in with SEN, Vanille with MED and left light on RAV spamming Army of One until I got Random: Instant Chain to fire off. Then I swapped to RAV/COM/RAV (or RAV/RAV/RAV if you didn't use Fang) and spammed on it until it died.

I might have debuffed it a bit with using MED/SEN/SAB but I honestly don't remember. It took about 3 or 4 failed attempts while I figured out the best way to do this without using Death.

Only real trick was to try and kill it before it popped out babies. That's when it sucked being "low level" trying to do this.

So true. When I met Neochu for the first time (and had all but maxed chars), I failed on him about 20 times.

In one try, I was incredibly lucky to get an early instant stagger and managed to kill him at the exact time when he spawned his offspring. Then they zerged my party and I lost again.
