My bad. I'll also go as far to admit defining the entirely of "La Raza" in this manner was probably in error. I should have said:

Some groups describing themselves as "La Raza" are leftist activists with a goal to return the western US to Mexico by culture or force.

It's funny to read that somehow these immigrants are like scheming and shit to eventually takeover California lol... Throughout my many pilgrimages around LA, I can count the number of times I've heard the term "la raza" w/ one hand, and most were from American Me.

Edit: Yeah, they used to take Mexican flags whenever they were protesting x thing, but I'd tell them to put them away for obvious reasons.

Didn't you read Atlas Shrugged? The Mexican government nationalized the private American industrialist's railroad line!

lol@ people who thought this immigration debate in arizona was all about criminals and Kidnappers.

Russel Pearce just proved me right.

    http://www.kswt.com/Global/story.asp?S=12527543

Arizona May 22 - The author of Arizona's Immigration Law, Senator Russell Pearce, says he wants to pass another law, this one effecting children of illegal immigrants.

In an e-mail obtained by our sister station in Phoenix, Pearce writes he plans to "push for an Arizona bill that would refuse to accept or issue a birth certificate that recognizes citizenship to those born to illegal aliens, unless one parent is a citizen."

Last year, 92 congressmen sponsored a bill changing the 14th Amendment so children of illegal immigrants born in the U.S. would not be granted citizenship. The bill is still in committee.

Last month, Representative Duncan Hunter of California told a Tea Party rally he would support deporting children of illegal immigrants, even if they are citizens.

His spokesman later tried to clarify Hunter's remarks.
The first law is unconstitutional but now he is just being lazy about it. Will the Tea party protest Russel Pearce? Nah because they would shit on the constitution as well as long as it would fit their ideological needs.

    Like I said.

They're afraid and they're in a position of power. A pretty scary mix if you ask me.

I'd be for the removal of birth-right citizenship from the constitution tbh, but I would want it to be in conjunction with the removal of being born here to become president as well.

It was something they put in to get more people back in the day. Now we are getting to the point where we have too many.

This bill is obviously silly though

Mexicans, the new niggers. This has nothing to do with anything at this point, it seems like they are just seeing how far you can push the envelop at this point.

I don't know if this was mentioned here or not but it was covered in one of my international studies classes on immigration. We discussed why easier immigration is important to developed countries.

Basically, all of the developed "first world" countries with super strict immigration laws (ex: Japan and European countries) are facing a population inversion where everyone is getting older and nobody is giving birth (low birth rate, low mortality). This is bad because if there are too many old people and not enough young people (to work) the economy can collapse and also the population itself.

America doesn't have this problem even though we are a country with a low birth rate and a low mortality rate. Why? Immigration. The more affluent you are (high education and/or wealthy) the less likely you are to have children, which means less people around to work, especially low end jobs. Immigration fills this void with a constant influx of new people to work and pay taxes which fuels the system that supports people in old age.

This is why it is important to ensure that immigration is not strict. It wards of the threat of population collapse.

Not to mention no American really wants the type of jobs immigrants take. Unless you or your dad like standing in freezing cold fruit factories inspecting cans of pineapple for a living, or what have you.

    Edit:

Never mind the economic hit any state will take when they lose a significant immigration work force. Look what Oregon faced when it proposed eliminating 170,000 jobs occupied by undocumented workers:

    http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/...7/daily26.html

The state could see an immediate loss of more than 170,000 jobs and a $17.7 billion drop in production under a proposed federal regulation that would require employers to fire undocumented workers, according to a study released Wednesday.

The study was conducted by William Jaeger, a professor in Oregon State University's Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, on behalf of the Coalition for a Working Oregon, a nonprofit group focused on federal immigration reform.

Its aim was to examine the ramifications of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's so-called "no match" rule that would require businesses to terminate any worker whose Social Security number cannot be verified by the Social Security Administration.

The rule was suspended by a federal court ruling in October and is under appeal.

Oregon has an estimated 150,000 undocumented immigrants, about 97,500 of whom are estimated to be working -- a 4.3 percent share of the overall state work force, according to the study.
The ripple effect of the federal rule, however, would reach beyond the undocumented immigrant population: The state's work force would immediately drop 7.7 percent, including about 76,000 workers beyond those that are undocumented, according to the study.

The study also indicates that the state's work force would continue to decline between 4.1 percent and 6.5 percent in subsequent years.

The loss of undocumented immigrants would lower state and local income tax revenues between $400 million and $656 million per year, the study shows.
I know all the "Patriots" are against immigration due to their xenophobic upbringing, but immigration plays a very important role. Even the undocumented part, which is just a symptom of the our flawed immigration laws. They just need to be made more lax. At least lax enough for undocumented workers to get visas easily so they can continue to work.

the thing is, nobody knows what america's job situation would look like without the huge influx of illegals we have had. I mean, you just listed a study that implied none of those jobs would be filled. You tried to use logic to figure a confounder but nobody knows if it's correct. As it stands, not many people would work the jobs illegals work for that wage, and that's what I find interesting. I have a hard time believing our entire economy would collapse if we payed 7% of the population 15-20% more to do entry-level work.

edit: and everything I've read says american birth rates are rising, not falling. The japanese birth rates are falling because japanese men don't have the amazingly weird fetish of having sex with a woman and ejaculating into her, they like normal things like drawings with tentacles impaling pre-pubescent girls anally

    ding ding ding

Incoming immigrants (illegal or otherwise), the majority, have neither education (maybe elementary and some high school) or money (hence why they came to America). This is not the rule for all immigrants for instance as I work for an immigration firm that helps Jesuit priests obtain permanent residentship in the US and they are all "foreigners" that happen to have 2-3 master degrees, a phd, speak 3-5 languages, and are bankrolled by the Catholic church. So, ymmv, but for undocumented immigrants they are definitely uneducated and poor on average which leads to higher birth rates.

As mentioned already, the more educated you are, and the more money you have, the less likely you hare to have children. This is why undeveloped nations when developed gradually shift from a high birth rate / high mortality (lots of births and lots of deaths) to a a low birth rate / low mortality (not many births / not many deaths) as they become developed. This is because as they become developed more and more of the population enjoy an increased quality of life including more and more education and more and more wealth, the need and desire to have children diminishes greatly.

Japan's low birth rate has nothing to do with sexual fetishes. It has to do with the fact that all the young women in the country would rather work and earn a living and shop then pop out a baby and ruin their lives. Why would you have a child when you're in a double income no children (DINC) relationship? It would ruin the life you've come to enjoy and also the quality of life you're used to without a child draining your bank account. The same goes for men, and also for marriage. This is not unique to Japan.
