This could be irrelevant but my mom is allergic (annafeletic sp?) to the spices in certain liquors (mainly rum) are you sure it is actually the alcohol you are allergic to and not something else that may be in them? (I don't know if there's preservatives and whatnot or if they could cause an allergy)

I've had an allergic reaction towards alcohol for a while. It's not the general red blushing thing that asians gets, but I also break out in nettle rash.

Does anyone know where it comes from?
Are there any medical treatments to this? I've tried to take some over-the-counter antihistamines, but they aren't really that effective. And I'm not sure that drinking alcohol with taking medicine is such a good idea...

Anyone with a solution?

I'm Chinese and I get rashes for a week if I drink tons...and I rarely drink. When I say drink tons, I mean 1 normal glass of red wine.

I don't think there is much you can do about it, as it's probably related to the lack of enzymes needed to break down the histamines. (At least, that's my assumption as to why I get rashes). Only thing you can do is to drink less wine. If you must drink it, just pour yourself 1/2 or 1/4 a glass with tons of water. That's what I do now... I just drink 1/4 glass of wine and have a lot of water with it. I have switched to blush for the most part, if I do drink. And I find that for me, I'm able to drink a bit more of blush wine. I don't know. But I rarely drink any alcohol in general so yeah...doesn't bother me if I don't drink wine, even, ever again.

It could be what your drinking, I know when I drink beers with large amounts hops it will make me feel sick or just throw up. Im not talking about getting wasted on beers, but just having a few will make me feel like trash. Ill just stick with my Bud and Busch Light.

Go smoke some weed if you want to have an altered state of mind. If you really are allergic to the alcohol and not to any of the other stuff these guys are trying to tell you, the worst thing you could do is keep trying to drink.
