Right so I saw the elementals in winterspring as lvl80 hunter but they sort of phased out when I got closer, any clues?

Ehh, they said that it goes according to level. so, you might be able to see the elementals but since you're so much higher, you can't do anything to 'em. I know to participate in the rift event you needa go to places that are your level.

so as a lvl 80 you gotta go to northrend to kill some rifts

Nah you get the buff if you kill any level rift you just cant loot the quest item unless you do it from one of your level.

got 2 rifts in northrend then got my other 2 rifts in outland. Northrend is so packed right now i'd recommend flying not camping there for rifts right now, especially since blizz said rifts are "leaking" compared to whats to come.

I'm waiting until the next phase to do the feat of strength, town defense sounds a lot more fun and has the added boon of the 251 gear mini bosses.

How are the mini bosses going to work? similiar to wintergrasp in that you join the line and get automatically put into a raid group or will you have to set up a raid yourself?

As I read it on wowhead it'll be a dungeon finder thing. Once you've completed a given city defense (air/earth/water/fire) you'll have access to the appropriate miniboss in the dungeon finder.

U don't need to kill an elemental to get the buff, just be at the location. And are the minibosses in the next phase going to be 5 man or raid?

And finally, successfully defending a city will allow you to take the fight to the enemy! A rift will open from the city you just defended to the hideout of a minor elemental lord. You will be able to queue for them through the Dungeon Finder just like you queue for seasonal bosses. All of the elemental bosses drop items of level 251, equivalent to ICC10 loot.

East Coast World of Warcraft players fondly remember previous expansion pack launches when they could start playing three hours ahead of the West Coast. Blizzard evens the playing field when the Cataclysm expansion launches on December 7 at 12:01AM Pacific.

So 3 RL mates of mine wishes to meet up at Cata release, and rush to 85 in 1 week (we're all taking a week off):: we're all going to one of his house's.

How likely is that? I can just imagine the huge clusterfuck it's gonna be with everyone trying to quest, and servers will probably go down everyday for fixes, we'll most likely be bored waiting and we'll end up with negative productivity maybe.

I wasn't around during TBC and LK expansions, I dunno if they were either, but anyone willing to share their experiences?

You could definitely do it w/in a week, prolly faster. It will only be a clusterfuck at first, but since everything is phased every few quests (exaggeration, but you get what i mean) it will make things smoother once you get out of the starting "spots." I'd start in Vashj since there is no 5 man in Hyjal. Once you reach the instance, you can easily just spam it between questing until 82/83 (forget exact lv) when you can go to Deepholme and grab that instance, yatta yatta. If your dead serious about going as fast as possible you can also swim to the Vashj instance after the first quest that gives you underwater breathing (or can use water breathing pots instead).. then just swim back to quest.

If the actual servers getting laggy in the quest areas/quest mobs getting killed too often, you and your friends could just do instances, which are on another server and could not have lag.

anything is possible as far as server stability goes, but i would recommend against spamming instances as a leveling means. Cata is different from WotlK, and you'll find out the mobs will quickly outgear you if you don't get quest rewards. Not only that but most players will probably have a hard time getting used to the Cata style of running dungeons in contrast to WotLK ones. To give you a perspective, beta players have come to labeling players "WotLK babies/nubs" if they try to run instances like how LK ones were run. The gear checks between levels is also a lot harsher since there's only 5 levels, so again that questing gear will help a lot.

lol, it didn't take ppl long to realize you cant face roll through stuff anymore. Gotta take some pulls slower and can't all out dps/AoE right away as a melee unless you want to die. That will be my biggest fear of doing random dungeon generator at launch. It will prolly be more painful then fun until the non-beta players get used to CCing and stuff

Also on wotlk launch servers were pretty stable for the most part, except the old / overpopulated ones, I dinged 80 in about a week and a half, prolly a bit less and not playing 24/7

Quests and quest mobs give so much more exp in Cata that it makes zero sense to go through the required quest hub skips to unlock the dungeon queue for the earliest ones. At best you should queue for BGs if you're at all favored to win on your battlegroup and grind in a guild that will quickly get the +rep/+exp bonus perks.

Aslong as you have the game on release and can play more then the average player can play at the start, you will be fine regarding the cluster fuck of players, i remember doing this for WoTLK i was in places like Zul Drak and would be 1 of 2 players there. Staying ahead of the cluster fuck is easy as long as you are willing to lose some sleep for it.

Also start in Hyjal if you want to do it quicker, start in the under water place if you like things that look pretty.

Group wise it's no problem, 1 other guy joined our "group" and brought along his brother, efficiently making it a 5 man team. We have a healer who wants to stay 100% healing, so that's sorted, and I want to tank. So instances will be done between us only.

Nice to hear your thoughts and input as well from the beta players. I will bring this forward with them.

TBC heroics, before being nerfed, where fun as hell. I miss those days where getting to the end and beating the boss felt rewarding (least the first dozen times you did it). but cata heroics seem to be in that direction, some of the stuff was just plain hard.
