Really? I thought I read somewhere that it was going away with today's patch. I guess that too will be gone with 4.0.3a


As far as "nothing" changing today, I believe all the changes are pretty much under the covers right now.

My theory is that the changed world is actually in game now, but will only change when the code from 4.0.3a is sent out.

It's no theory, that's what they are doing. They want it to so that all they need to do is restart the servers. 4.03a will come w/something pretty large scale, and everyone will get a server reset msg.. when they log back in it will be the cata world (though I don't think you can fly until purchase the xpac and it goes live)

Theres a somewhat reliable rumor now that the final stages of the pre-cata event will start late this week with Cho'gall attacking Org and Deathwing attacking Stormwind, capping it out with 4.0.3a on tuesday

Is Deathwing going to be incinerating random zones in the days leading up to cataclysm, or after it launches? Seems that lore-wise, the destruction of both SW and Org would have to happen prior to that event getting activated.

this happens after the Shattering or Dec 7. and is a random occurrence for the duration of Cataclysm until (as quoted by Zarhym) "Yes, this isn't a permanent event, but will last so long as he's free to roam the world."

yeah its weird for it to happen this early but it honestly fits, given the current state of the elemental invasion and since 4.0.3 was released this early. blizz also mentioned the world changes were gonna happen a week or 2 in advance so we could get used to the new world. So far my track record for guessing during these events is like 0/alot so yeah... ima wait and see what happens.

a 500MB patch seems awful small for all vanilla content upgraded to cataclysm if you ask me, because it now allows flying too, .3a might not be as small or maybe we have part of the vanilla updated content already (I wouldnt know as I downloaded the digital cata thingie and was about 1.6Gb)

Edit: ^ Takes 2 to 3 hrs for the event invasion to start. And when you win (depending on your server of course) you can queue for 2 of them, and like 15 minutes after the invasion happens in the other city and then you can queue for the other 2.

Or at least I was able to do that, pretty much everytime the event was up.

It's not, 4.0.3a is on the PTR right now and the org and dal flying trainers do NOT have azerothian flying(or whatever it's called now)

Fairly sure the main reason he said this is because the main reason you can't fly in Azeroth at the moment is because there is no textures for it as it currently stands. So that would mean they would have to texture two different maps and zones for like 2 weeks of gameplay, which is something no one would do.

The world in 4.0.3a is flying-ready, there is no reason you couldn't fly there, aside from not having flying enabled. There aren't anymore "optical illusions" in the landscape.
