It seems that they've scaled it down by half RAP (1.4 to .7) on PTRs. This means that once 4.0.7 comes around we'll only be hardcasting AiS during CA phase (if that). Blizzard needs to figure out what they want already. lol

I thought they already changed it to .7?

Not sure where else to put this lol, but anyway, I got the new cataclysm mouse.

    This one:

    http://gamingweapons.com/image/steel...m_mouse_00.jpg

Can't decide if I like it yet or not. I'm pretty disappointed about 1 thing: It doesn't have scroll wheel left/right clicks, only the center. Probably the thing that sold me most on it was the idea of having scroll wheel left/right PLUS those 2 buttons to either side of the scroll wheel. Unfortunately those 2 buttons just replace the scroll wheel clicks.

Also, there appears to be absolutely no warranty of any sort whatsoever.

Anyway, still debating atm but I'm pretty pumped to try it out, I'll let you guys know what I think after a few days playing with it. Also there's another button you can't see there under your ring finger, it's a cool idea but I don't think I'm dexterous enough to use it really lol.

It seems like those buttons on either side of the scroll wheel would be really easy to mis-click in the heat of the moment

All of the buttons take enough pressure that I don't foresee accidental clicks happening at all.

Although, it's kind of odd. Trying to click the middle wheel left out of habit does nothing, but trying to click it right triggers a normal middle click. That might fuck with me now and then until I get myself used to using the buttons instead of pushing the wheel side to side.

A few hours later I'm almost certain I'm going to return it.

It has this nice ergonomic slightly slanted design for the grip, but then the body of the mouse itself with the 2 main buttons is like an old school straight 2 button mouse that's not lined up with the ergonomics.

Making my finger hurt and I've barely been using it ><

Microsoft Intellimouse explorer is more comfortable than either the g500 or the g700, but all 3 are valid gaming mouse choices.

Pretty sure I'm gonna go with a g700.

Has enough buttons, looks comfy, saves me $25 over this thing, and I like that I can use it wired for WoW and wireless for other stuff.

This is my first time playing with wired in quite a while... kitty is way too interested ><

Is there anything wrong with using a regular mouse? Starting to feel like a nub for using that, but honestly I can't see spending the money. Is it necessary even for casual-ish players? Or just something for the people who consider themselves to be more hardcore?

Do you have over 40 key binds, do you play a hunter, do you like easy access to your key binds?
    If:
Yes - Get a gaming mouse.
    No - You're fine.

Pretty much, I'm mainly getting the extra buttons because I need more spots for focus macros and shit.

There's a lot of things moderately wrong with a regular mouse if you raid on regular basis, an extra button for Push-to-talk comes to mind. If you're casual a regular mouse is just fine, but the more buttons you have the less you depend on a keyboard or even, clicking buttons. But it comes down to using it (a mouse with more than 3 buttons) to feel the difference.

My mouse has like, 3 buttons aside from the left/right click and I do fine. I have them set to push-to-talk, focus macro, and focus shock.

Considering the global cooldown is ~1.5seconds, it would be hard to run out of keyboard macro for the remaining insta cast (the less important skill can easily be clicked). Since my mouse only has 2 button, I macroed a bunch of stuff on alt+(1234qwer) which are easy to reach whenever I need them. You can easily replace a mouse like this.

To answer your question, it can't be a bad thing to have more quick macro available, but no, you don't need it.

That makes me feel better. Really if it comes down to clicking for me that's the stuff that I don't use constantly, like my buffs. Keep a couple heals up there too because it's nice to have an emergency button if I need it, I just rarely end up having to heal myself. XD

I don't think you need it. Having 40 keybinds seems a bit excessive, I somehow doubt that all of those 40 are essential moves that would make you less effective in a raid if you have to click some of them instead. I think having around 10-20 moves keybound is the standard, and you have around 10 buttons located around WASD (QERFVCXZ1234) plus being able to use ctrl+keybind as well as using the default mouse buttons. Having a souped up mouse is nice but I don't think it's essential even if you're a hardcore raider.

    It's a pvp thing, really.

I need 3 strangulate macros for example, target, focus target, and last target. Same with death grip and yada yada.

In terms of pve yeah, if you can't fix a macro shortage by going to ESDF movement you're probably trying to do too much.

I think it has more to do with comfort than anything, I've tried gaming mice before and didn't really like using them (hurt my hand). I just use a pretty meh logitech mouse I've been using for like 5 years now and it's been fine for me. I would love to have push-to-talk back onto my mouse though, it used to work but now it doesn't for some reason.

Once I got used to my naga, it's gotten quite comfortable. I just have to get used to using alt/ctrl with it.
