I returned my Naga after like 3 days.
LolWe’re making a number of hotfixes to address use of the Dungeon Finder and vote kick tools. The following hotfixes will require realm restarts to implement, which are likely to be next Tuesday’s weekly maintenance.
- Players who are outside a dungeon for more than a few minutes are now immediately able to be kicked.
- If queuing as a group with a tank or healer, and the tank or healer drops group (or is kicked) soon after joining, those that queued with them will also be removed from the dungeon.
- If three or more players group queue with each other it will require an additional vote for them to kick anyone they did not group queue with.
- If a group queue of 4 kicks the one person that they did not group queue with they will each receive a more severe penalty to their ability to initiate future kicks.
- If someone initiates a vote kick for someone they group queued with they will not incur a penalty to their ability to initiate future kicks.
With these changes we hope to reduce some undesirable behavior and annoyances, and encourage greater patience when using the Dungeon Finder. In addition, keep in mind that both initiating and agreeing to vote kick have always carried the same weight to your ability to kick in the future. It's always best to save your votes for when it really counts to ensure your ability to kick is available when it does.
We’ll of course be watching how these changes work to improve these systems, and always appreciate your feedback.
As these and other hotfixes are implemented, they'll be added to the hotfix blog - http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/2259389#blog
As for the fourth one on that list, I only disagree because there are plenty of legitimate reasons to kick a bad player (tank who can't hold threat or stands in fire or healer who spams inefficient heals like a boss) if you're queueing as a group of four.
Wow, I didn't think they'd ever fix the vote kick system. I guess enough people bitched about it.
Agreed here. Now if we start a guild group of four and we end up with some trash player who does any of the above or simply afk's after entering we're punished for vote kicking them? Even if we end up grouped with a piss-poor player we generally just leave them there because they're not (well, sometimes) a real burden to the group. I guess they had to weigh the amount people are vote-kicked by guild groups because someone in the group wants a specific item from x boss against the chances of the one pugged player being bad, but it seems like Blizzard really didn't think this one all the way through.
The way I've heard it, guild groups use someone to get to the last boss, kick them right before the final pull and invite a guild member to finish up. For no reason oftentimes other than lulz.
Wow, I'm honestly surprised they stepped up and put in fixes for people selling queues and such. Way to go, Blizzard.
Yeah... God forbid a DPS skips the 30-40 minutes queues while Healers and Tanks get into a dungeon instantly. Should make it so that DPS don't have to wait that long before fixing that.
How would you propose they do that? The only way is to force more people to level/play tanks and heals because that's what the DPS are waiting for. Unless you impose some sort of arbitrary waiting period for tanks and heals queueing to "even it out," but that would just in turn make the DPS queue even longer.
Or should they create some AI heals and tanks to throw in with three random DPS? I can't see that ending well. Blizzard can't force people to play their heals or tank classes, and they can't force them to queue up either.
u r teh dumb (as always, nub)
1) queue times are a factor of people not wanting the responsibility of tanking. There's nothing Blizzard can do about that. If you want a instant queue, roll a tank.
2) healers don't get instant queues
3) the fix was to stop the practice of tanks selling instant queues then immediately dropping after they get in the dungeon, which was lame as hell. If you're a DPS there's nothing stopping you from buying a tank, he just has to be willing to run the dungeon now.
Means tanks are going to make even more money than before because they know they can up the ante a little bit. What was once "WTB insta queue 200g" is going to become "WTB tank 500g" lol.
BRB leveling tank job.
I've been in queues with healers that are no shorter than 9 minutes, queue times are borne from the paucity of tanks available.
The only unsolved problem with queues that I can see with these up and coming changes is plate wearers/druids queueing as tank then afking, waiting to requeue as dps at the front of the queue.
Battlegroups stopped mattering for the dungeon finder a while ago. The only thing they impact, hilariously, is whether or not you can put someone on ignore. (Cant ignore someone outside of your battlegroup due to a glitch).
Tanks are instant queue, healers have to wait a bit, DPS wait a lot. It does not vary from server to server.
I still can't figure out how the bg's work now, but I can tell you this much:
Queuing as a tank on blackrock almost never results in a completely instant queue, i.e. hit queue and dungeon pops. As a healer, it almost always does.
It's even more pronounced at lower levels.
