The chat panes work like tabs in your internet browser of choice, so it really doesn't take up any more screen space. I recommend you try it; to create a new window I think you just right-click the existing chat tab and it'll give you an option to create a new tab. Then right-click that one and choose to adjust the filters, turn off trade chat and presto! A chat tab which strips out all the bullshit while you're in the city.

Oh, I figured you meant it splits up and takes up more screen space. That's actually really awesome.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes there are funny things going on in trade, but 99% of the time it's immature bullshit that I don't want to suffer through. I just got really good at ignoring most of the pink text.

When I played, all the time if not every time. If you you see 30 of one job and only need one, obviously it makes a difference.

As mentioned; established guilds and better guilds won't use this as applications are what matters. But starter guilds and lower level guilds and whatnot will make use of it, and I'm sure there is plenty of room in the comment box to put days you can/cant.

DKs now get Battle Res (Raise Ally)

    I screamed NOOOOOOOOooooo.....

While I welcome this utility since we only have 1 druid in the 10 man raid group in guild, I will dearly miss this ability. There's nothing more satisfying than to raise someone up as a Ghoul and watch them run around with me, especially if they die early in a boss fight. It's even better that fact it makes people laugh when using it and they ponder what to do while in Ghoul form as their action keys have been temporarily replaced. I also have 2 friends who hates me ressing them as a ghoul, as it disorientates them for some reason, but in a funny manner.

Ah well. An extra battle res should make raids far more interesting. People are QQing about it costing 50 RP, but as I primarily tank I'm not too bothered about that especially once threat is established. The only problem I see with it is if I cannot move the boss too much due to raid damage then reaching the dead person, especially if it's a ranged/healer, might be tricky without collateral damage killing everyone else, haha.

    <healer dies>
    me > don't worry i'mma rez youuuu!
    <me turns towards raid>
<internet dragon snorts over the raid>

as a dps DK i love the idea. Fuck the lore. Most druids i run with are healing. This lets them keep the heals flowing while i get someone up. I can stop dps for two seconds to raise, healers can't at times.

    HERO CLASS

I would have liked them to do something different instead of just giving another class a battle res. My shitty idea would give them the ability to raise an ally and buff them with an extra 10% to all stats. But the effect fades by 5% every 10 seconds (so that as time passes they go from buffed to normal to debuffed) and then after a minute the player re-dies but suffers no durability loss. I think it would add a bit more strategy to it.

Yeh the lore peoples are increasingly agitated, since Lich King does the same thing but makes them evil, or something.

In such a case, I had a similar idea to Cephius but since this is not the case, I rather they just add a 1 hour no-effect buff/debuff which will make the character that got battle res'd by a DK to have some sort of scourgely aura. Has no effect, but might please the lore guys. hah

Seems the DK change was intended to help 5-10 mans, but they may as well have given BRs to Hunters too for all the people in either class that understand what buttons to press beyond the first 3-4 they learn levelling up.

Oh god I just saw the Resilience changes on the PTR. Bye bye clothies...

What did they do to resilience?

Changed it from an increasing stat to a linear stat. It's a good change.

Okay. I know this is not the RQT but since it is relevant, what does that mean, exactly? I've never been highly mathematical when it comes to how stats affect each other.

(And sorry. I know I'm a total WoW noob.)

A player with 32.5% damage reduction from resilience in 4.0.6 should see their damage reduction unchanged in 4.1. Those with less than 32.5% will gain slightly. Those with more will lose some damage reduction, increasingly so as their resilience climbs.

    G-Unit.

Right now at high levels of resilience, more resilience is a very attractive stat. At low levels of resilience, however, it is not that great of a stat. They're changing it so that the value of resilience is constant.

It's much like how haste in FFXI worked. When you had extreme levels of haste, even otherwise-mediocre gear like that 1% haste ring become extremely good.

As for the math: consider that someone hits you for 10,000 base damage.

With 0% resilience, you take 10000 damage. With 1% resilience, you take 9900 damage. So, at 0% resilience, 1% extra resilience dropped your damage taken by 100/10000 = 1% decrease.
With 25% resilience, you take 7500 damage. With 26% resilience, you take 7400 damage. So, at 25% resilience, 1% extra resilience dropped your damage taken by 100/7500 = 1.3%.
With 50% resilience, you take 5000 damage. With 51% resilience, you take 4900 damage. So, at 50% resilience, 1% extra resilience dropped your damage taken by 100/5000 = 2%.

Right now, the amount of rating required to gain 1% resilience is a fixed number. So, at 0% resilience, a that amount of resilience only decreases incoming damage by 1%; at 50% resilience that same amount of resilience reduces incoming damage by 2%, so it is twice as useful.

They will be changing the formula so that the amount of rating required to gain 1% resilience increases as your overall resilience increases, to offset this "increasing" return.

It goes against the idea of Cataclysm homogenizing the game though. That being said, I'm still unsure how Dark Intent and Focus Magic fit into their plan, but giving DKs a good raise type ability that didn't share the raise-cap with other classes is bound to be abused to bypass mechanics. On the other hand, making it weaker than crez but still share in the raise-cap would just be silly. I think overall this is a really good change...makes having a druid not so pivotal in 10mans. That being said, I'm a bit confused why they made Glyph of Raise Ally into what they did, instead of allowing the same Glyph that druids have for Rebirth...the DK crez already kinda sucks comparatively without it. Hopefully they change that before it goes live.

Given that most druids glyph bres, all other res are sort of inferior. I hate it in 10 man when shamans ankh and then I have to blow a shitload of mana healing them up.

Shaman self-rez doesn't count towards the cap though, so suck it up and heal 'em. ;p It's also significantly less useful since you can't choose who to rez!

But ya, with a druid and DK in the raid, assuming they don't give DKs a glyph (or make it baseline), it's pretty much always going to be better to have even the resto druid stop healing to cast it, as opposed to the DK doing it. It's still a solid change for 10mans though.

This, unless the DK BR gets a glyph or its 100% hp, it will be inferior to BR. When you now only have so limited BR's.. especially in 10man, its very important to get that person up w/ 100% hp

It never did, was just a bug (a bug that also didn't you use BR after a wipe, unless you logged out)

I mean, when was this fixed? As of like 5 weeks ago we still had this issue in 25 mans. Haven't really noticed it since moving back to 10 mans, but then I've been on vacation.
