Wahhhh I just want to play a MMO with absolutely no grinding or gear progression this is so unfair.
Wahhhh I just want to play a MMO with absolutely no grinding or gear progression this is so unfair.
The only thing this is going to do is make people like me who are capable of getting 2.2k+ in rating, grind heroics to get our t2 weapons faster. I'm not complaining about gear progression. I'm complaining about the fact I have to do something completely unrelated to PvP to PvP competitively.
How would you feel if I could convert my CP to VP getting 2.8k CP a week?
You can do all your heroics for the week for VP in a single day once the patch hits.. I see no issue with that. And if you wanted to convert CP to VP..I say go for it. Unlike CP, you can't buy ALL your gear with VP so that's why people always have such a large surplus for VP.
Right, but I don't want to do heroics. I choose not to do PvE anymore, especially heroics. This is forcing me into it.
How is it FORCING you to do it? You can still gain CP the PvP way. That's like saying that people who like to do BG's but cant get a group for RBGs are FORCED to do arena for their CP because 25 a day for a random won't cap them out each week.
Yeah it sucks that some people will be able to get their weapon a whole week before you, but it's not like the weapon stat jumps are that amazing and won't effect anything too much.
It's not like 4 weeks into the season you and everyone else won't have ALL your pvp gear and just be sitting on CP like now.
Full PVP gear including T2 weapons and relic is 28,700 CP(Fury warriors and hunters need substantially more). Gladiator arena ratings will net you a 2,900 CP cap every week. The earliest anyone should expect to have full current season set is 10 weeks. The lowest amount of weekly CP you can get is 1300. However, if you're getting that amount you can subtract the cost of T2 so you only need 24,600 CP. That means it could take you 19 weeks of doing arena every week to get a full set of gear.
If VP to CP transfers can go past your weekly limit, this change means that bottom tier PVPers can double the rate that they acquire gear and top tier PVPers can almost get a 50% increase in CP gains.
Please don't try to say gear doesn't matter in a competitive environment. Sure, gear doesn't matter in PVE where the encounters are designed to be beaten by anyone and everyone(people were beating Ulduar and ToC in blues just for the fun of it). But PVP is a system where people are actively trying to make you lose. I cannot count the number of times where we've gotten somebody down to 1% health and they get healed back up and we end up losing the match. Or both healers are OOM and just a tiny bit more of spirit and we would have outlasted them.
Aurik, you played FFXI for too long if you think a game has to include huge time sinks and grinds to be fun.
If this change doesn't allow you to go past your weekly cap, then the only way it would ever be utilized is if somebody's partner didn't log on for the week and they're just trying to scrape together as many points as they can get.
Pretty sure you wont be able to go over the cap, this is just about having people with too much cp or vp so they can try the other side.
Yeah, I've seen you change your argument already, but the answer is still the same.
Trading point isn't going to change a shit. The only thing it will do is make it easier for people to join a pvp season halfway, and that's not a bad thing.
If you don't want to farm valor, then don't fucking do it. The 1-4 pieces you will be missing out for a few weeks isnt going to make a significant difference in the bracket. If you do want them, then suck it up and spend 3 hours doing that every weeks. The time you waste over there is time saved doing shitty BG for honor anyway.
This arguments pretty silly, all that aside do you guys actually PvP? 1 piece of gear does infact make pretty large impacts. Fighting a warrior with a t1 vs t2 weapon are two completely different animals. This isnt taking into account things like s8 DFO/DBW's, angerforge etc. An extra 4k health or mana could mean the difference between winning or tanking points depending on the team you're facing. It's really not so unreasonable to be mad you'd potentially have to PvE to stay ahead in PvP.
You call my argument silly, then you use a single piece of gear that every sane PvPer would buy first as example. Now, that's a silly argument.
And yes, a piece of gear could make a difference in a fight, but at the end of the season, it's won't. You're looking at an handful of matches, usually around the 10th-15th week, where it could potentially matter, and only if you're refusing to farm random dungeons once a week.
Well PvP is serious business, no sarcasm.
I was just pointing out that 1 piece of gear does actually have a large impact on the outcome of certain games. I wasn't calling your argument silly, the whole thing is silly because as you said it only matters for the first few weeks of the season. I can just sympathize because as someone who's stopped PvEing all together, i'd like to avoid as many mouth breathing idiots id be forced to trudge through boring heroics with to get ahead in an area of content that isn't at all related to what I actually enjoy doing in the game.
And I'm just pointing out it's a MMO R P G, grinding shit to "get an edge" is basically the name of the fucking game. Just be glad that it isn't 100% required, and that you can sidestep the "requirement" to grind if you simply accept that the teams you face are going to have a tiny little bit of an advantage (which is made 99.999% irrelevant by the fact that team composition is by far the most important factor in determining wins and losses at high rating).
If you want to play a pvp game where the playing field is level, go find a different game.
I'm not arguing having to grind in an MMO, whats dumb is having to grind an aspect of content to be competitive in another completely irrelevant aspect of the game. Arena itself is a massive grind for a title and a mount at the end of the season, no one is complaining about that. But if you're strictly PvEing you can avoid PvP all together, why can't someone who strictly PvP's wish for the same?
