Ok, im late here, sorry but... nothing more fail than a cor/whm in a bird merit pt who uses rolls then afks the rest of the time saying he's "resting MP". And when he's asked to DD, he says "I'm cor/whm, I dont like to DD on cor".

Anyways if you just throw on some mediocre MDB gear during Diamond Dust you should survive, I solo shiva a lot on sam and it rarely does over 1000 on me that way.

you're right about the SH+1, but he'd require like +30MDB to have survived that, taking that base damage.

I didn't bring any MDB gear because AF typically does about a fifth that much damage. Hell, I didn't even get all of my WS gear.

Hey, has anyone ever noticed that Thorny is a little overeager to criticize people? Anyway I guess I'll take his advice and assume that my evasion rate is already capped on Shiva.

Edit: BTW, 156 damage when I went /WHM.

Only random bad luck really. SH -ice probably increased your chances of being unresisted greatly though.

In my experiences, I've found out the hard way that having negative of any element seems to mean you'll have 0 resist rate. a lv5 goblin weaver will bind/paralyze your ass if you're wearing SH+1

Few weeks ago I couldn't sleep. Lay in bed for three hours before finally giving up and logging on FFXI, figuring I'd just kill four hours until early morning Salvage rather than risk oversleeping. So I log on and a friend is wanting to merit, but bird camps are taken, so we go to MMJSP. Think I got one-shotted about three or four times before the party disbanded to do RvBs, and it was a hell of a lot of fun. Birds is awesome if I want merits, but if I want some fun I'll go MMJSP.
