Apart from Content Aware, what else is new with CS5? I honestly haven't been keeping up, but I wonder if they fixed the 3D texturing aspect. Shit sucked so much, I hope they fix it, because doing all my texturing in Photoshop would be a dream.

I saw an improvement to 3D features but idk if it was that. I will say the Refine Edge... tool for selections is fucking amazing. Just playing around I cut a Pugil out of a screenshot perfectly. Ridges and all. Elapsed time? 30 seconds. Awesome.

Just how bad is CS5's lag and bloat, specifically on high resolution/DPI files? I use Photoshop primarily for painting but I've been hesitant to upgrade, considering how much horrendous visible brush lag the demo videos had working on low resolutions.

How high res are we talking? Highest thing I do is usually 2048x1152 and no notable slowdown on my laptop. I can try a higher one out and let you know.

Average resolution I work at is 6000x6000 300DPI, often higher. Running on an i5-750 with a 4890 and 4GB DDR3 and I get pretty bad lag with low-spacing custom brushes in CS4 at that resolution already :X

Okay yeah, lol, I get bad lag with brushes at 3000x4000. Your PC is a lot better than my laptop though so who knows.

Are you guys using the 64-bit version? I've never encountered any issues with high resolution/dpi imagery.

seriously, screw CS4. I just tried content aware in CS5. It's not completely absurdly perfect (I removed a person in a swimming pool, and it keeps taking a little piece of the rail in the middle of the water, but easily fixable), but I have to admit, it's working a lot better than I thought it would.

edit: having played with it a little. It has a very bad habit of not helping itself to objects from the surroundings. delete a table, suddenly you have a chair or two in the middle. not as zomg as I initially thought, but still a massive timesaver for smaller things.

    (double post, sorry ><)

Need to get this, anyone know a reliable version that'll work/is safe?
