    Again:
    Graphics - Amazing.
Battle - Meh. Fast pace is good but "meh" is how I feel about it.
Story - Not interesting to me, don't care for it.

Don't agree with what I just said? Sorry, shit sucks but nothing you can do about it.
Hey man, want to read my review of this book?

I haven't actually read the book, but I'm sure you'd like to hear my opinions on how good it is anyway.

You can skip every cutscene in a videogame and still make a decent review out of it. 'cuz you know, videogames are not books or movies.

Can't it be some kind of a hybrid?

Let's be honest though, most people wouldn't buy an FF game just for the gameplay itself. It's like an experience. If you are skipping one part of that experience then you are very unlikely to enjoy it... with other genres like FPS, the game is much more focused on just providing gameplay rather than trying to create an immersive experience.

Again, the point people seem to be missing. It's a video game, not a book. The above doesn't even make sense. I'm not saying the entire story sucked, I'm saying it didn't interest me or make me want to continue reading it, and gave a score based on *gasp* my personal opinion. I get it, you don't like people who don't agree with you and that's great and all.

I guess I should just follow suit and start bawwwwing all over the place that you actually enjoyed the story and are an idiot for thinking that? No. You enjoyed it? Okay, good for you. Didn't enjoy it? Same here. Story didn't do it for me. "Hey, I like book X. You don't? lolololololol you're a fucking retard, heres some unrelated references as to why you're a retard for not liking this book. How dare you not like something I like!"

It's a video game (this can't be stressed enough) not a book. Why do people assume "omg you hate the story, you hate the game"? There's a bunch of reasons for why it was lackluster, and that's not even touching the story line.

Too linear, opens up and then it's over too soon, after you beat it there's not much to do, battle AI was irritating for some combos, etc.

People get way to whiny and up in arms over nothing. You act like I'm insulting something you created and put time into.

tl;dr You enjoyed it? Cool. You didn't? Cool.

What you need to do is find where this data is located in your brain and delete it and hope to God you weren't made with a Recycle Bin. That's all that needs to be said there.

If someone is going to pay more attention to the small details like music or plot then a review focusing entirely on a game's essence is of course going to be useless to them. However sane individuals will put more priority on what is important and a review which doesn't put more weigh on the crunchy part of the games is useless altogether. A review which skips over the fluff is certainly very incomplete, but still passable. This applies to random forum posts which are shaped like mini-reviews.

We're talking about a large part of the game. MGS4 is commonly regarded as a good game - what would happen if one were to skip all of the movie sequences from that? The gameplay of FF13 is poor to begin with and then becomes mediocre~decent before blossoming into becoming in my opinion very good. I found the plot and experience more than sufficient to bridge the gaps between that point (for the record I started loving the game properly around Chapter 7~ not quite as late as some people).

FF13 is built from the ground up to be an experience and not just a "pick up and play" game. Some will hate that style, some will love it.

To use a counterexample since it is apt here, FF12 is more about putting the reins of gameplay back in the hands of man.

If plot doesn't matter in a FF game then why does FFXII receive so much criticism even though it has the best gameplay in the series? The only flaws people seem to see in that game is the subpar story and character for a FF game, which seem to be enough to lower the score from 10 to 7.

FFXIII is the polar opposite - linear and much simplier (which doesn't man bad), yet it has among the best story and characters in the series (by the way I liked both of them, so it's not necessarily true that if you hate XII you love XIII and other way around).

In comparison the PS1 era had a good balance of both, but they were more of a "jack of all trades, master of none" games if you ask me. The new games seem to focus on few aspects more than others. FFXII focused on freedom and gameplay, FFXIII on graphics, story and characters.

Although I do miss the old "balance" (which is not perfection, don't come and say that FFVII or FFVIII were "perfect" under any point of view because they had some serious flaws) it doesn't prevent me from enjoying the newer FF games.
The beauty of the series is that each FF is unique and doesn't completely overshadow the previous ones after all.

Because I said anything at all about your actual opinions on the game in any way, shape, or form.

If you don't like the game, that's fine. If you're judging the entire story based on the fact that you didn't want feel like watching cutscenes, you're an idiot.

lol. If you were to skip the cutscenes in MGS you would get a simpler story on the level of Final Fight. But skipping doesn't really matter because there is no reason to, we should talk about ignoring plot. What would happen is exactly what you would think: we would talk about all the parts where Snake runs around shooting and sneaking and boss-fighting.

The gameplay of FF13 is poor to begin with and then becomes mediocre~decent before blossoming into becoming in my opinion very good.
This basically ruins the game(the experience). The FF13 that is good from the start would certainly get a better score, but maybe not even so. The battle system isn't so good that you could a campaign-less game around it. (So in your words, no story to "bridge" anything, whatever the hell that would mean)

    experience
Look man, you need to understand everything is an experience as you experience everything. Having to walk through shitty weather is an experience and so is playing First Person Shooters or eating a grilled cheese sandwich. FF13 sure as hell isn't a better experience than "most" games as it is only a 2/5(to its credit most final fantasys are 1/5, but the more I think about it because of all the filler at the start it should be 1/5 too).

not just a "pick up and play" game. Some will hate that style, some will love it.
FF12 is more about putting the reins of gameplay back in the hands of man.
The stuff you say is mind bogglingly dumb. If you are going to post your weird insights you should put more weight behind them or I will not understand what you are trying to say.

Is this suppose to refute something? Using toothpicks and needles doesn't make a decent wipe.

I think we play games in different ways. If I play an FPS, I am going to pick it up and play it and judge it based on that. However, if I play a deeper and more immersive game like FF13 for instance, I am going to judge it based on how much I enjoy myself by becoming immersed in the storyline. There have been many instances where I have enjoyed a technically inferior game over a technically superior one because of "secondary" aspects such as plot/atmosphere/music/etc.

Judging almost solely based on gameplay is fine but it's not how everybody plays. Some people play just to play a game and some people play for the experience itself. It's hard to describe.

The stuff you say is mind bogglingly dumb. If you are going to post your weird insights you should put more weight behind them or I will not understand what you are trying to say.
FPS, RTS, racing game etc = "pick up and play"
RPG = build up, balanced experience, often has slow bits

Two distinct styles. If I want to play an FPS, I can just go, switch it on, and jump into a match. If I am playing an RPG, how I play is determined entirely by my point in the storyline and they normally don't have an "Arcade" feel to them where you can just jump in and out. I dunno if I'm explaining myself properly.

The second quote is more a reference to FF12 whilst referencing FF12 adapting one of the more notable quotes from the game.

Tell me this, why is that you seem to think if I say "the story doesn't interest me", you take it as "holy shit this story sucks!"

Find one post where I said the story sucks. Remember though, saying "it doesn't interest me/bores me", doesn't mean "it sucks". I should spread this logic. Do you think something like uh...Dragonball Z sucked? How fucking dare you! You can't say shit unless you watched all 500 episodes and tried to enjoy it.

    Spoiler: show
    You won't.

Oh no, a dumb troll is insulting me. I am deeply shaken to my core.

It's obvious from the fact that you hate all of the other FFs that we (and a lot of other people who play) simply look for other things in games and are capable of enjoying games whose gameplay is not A++; why can you not accept that instead of being a smartass?
