There are two things I like about this short note from SE:

1) Acknowledges that the occasional title is intentional and that there is some sort of trigger for it.

2) Shows that SE has some understanding of an actual player concern (special campaign ops almost never being available). Just the fact that they show some minor example of knowing something about the game from a player perspective is, sadly, quite impressive these days.

In next update, players will be able to obtain "Occassionally attack 2-3 times" weapons by obtaining "Orcus Trophy Hunter" on 10 separate occasions.

It doesn't imply that anywhere, like the OP said, the comment is in regards to the seemingly random nature of acquiring the titles from the VNMs being intentional and triggered by something other than just killing the mob.

If anything they probably do something fantastically lame for the required effort, like the Abyssea add-on's equivalent of getting an entire imperial mythril piece instead of a bronze one because you did all 4 "Lure of the Wildcats".

You're reading too much into the statements. From those two sentences you can entail:

- there are some good weapons to upgrade (true)
- everyone has a chance to upgrade a good weapon (true)
- relic and mythic weapon holders can upgrade their weapon (true)
- there are "occasionally attacks twice" weapons you can upgrade (true)
- the trials for the "occasionally attacks twice" weapons are more challenging (true)
- everyone has their eye on the "occasionally attacks twice" weapons (basically true, demonstrated by the amount of attention they're getting, even if 'everyone' may be exaggerated)
- some of the upgrades offered are better suited to different situations (true)

You go a step further and try to infer "all the 'occasionally attacks twice' weapons are good," which is apparently not true.

Further, depending on how they continue the trials, the "occassionally attacks twice" weapons that currently lose out to existing ones may or may not still pull ahead with additional augments when/if the Magians system is ever completed.

If I point out that PUP being able to get a decent weapon from magian still leaves out MNKs, therefore preserving my point about "everyone can get a fantastic weapon" being false, am I nitpicking or do you just suck at arguing?

Yes, he is a nitpicker too.

If every single word in that letter is not completely and utterly factual without any corners cut then you are going to be complaining about it. If the text doesn't read "Almost everyone has an eye on these weapons, excluding Monks" then you feel the need to make a butthurt comment about it. Congrats.

Maybe they just don't care that a small (for some- normal people) detail is not mentioned in a text not meant to be a damn research paper in the first place.

But I am not much better for even having this "argument" about it, I admit. This is the lamest shit ever.

Gergall was making 2 points that show SE is listening to their player base and learning more about their own game, I was making one that shows they still don't know/care about everything even if it's the specific thing they are making an announcement about.

People seem to forget that not everyone does the math behind new gear. Some people will see those Wargfangs, bubble with glee over the OAT, work towards them, obtain them and enjoy them while the smaller population of math geeks calls them gimp.

SE could give two shits if we pick apart content because at least one person will like the new OAT weapons for MNK (even if they only proc on one fist) which means to the devs: mission accomplished.

For everyone else? You can try another Magian option (like Mantis) or QQ/bitch some more about not getting the ideal.


P.S: They got it right this time because overall Trial of the Magians is lightyears ahead in keeping interest than Evoliths or even Fay Augments before.

There is no update where you have a 100% success rate on satisfying everyone. You either have huge success
like Nyzul, Salvage, Fields of Valor &Trial of the Magians or failure like Chocobo Racing and Pankration.

Even with failure, you still will have a small segment that enjoys the content. Baby, bathwater etc.

BRB lemme QQ that Salvage is complete failure because Skadi Mask sucks and some pieces aren't worth the effort.
