If by appealing you mean, appealing to stay in the game then yeah, sounds like they are taking the right approach, but I still won't use it. I'd rather have the motion sensor or anything else.

Developers and publishers have gone to some pretty drastic measures to prevent having their new products put through the Gamestop wash, such as EA's Project Ten Dollar, or Ubisoft's highly controversial "Pre-Owned Smart Bomb," which, upon sensing a player's intent to trade a game in, destroys his or her entire city. However, according to Treyarch's Mark Lamia, the developer hopes to combat resales of Call of Duty: Black Ops by making its multiplayer component positively unquittable.
"We're going to support the hell out of Black Ops," Lamia recently explained to MCV. "That will be our focus post-release: making sure we keep our fans engaged, and hopefully as a result, they'll want to keep playing our game and won't want to trade it in." A noble goal, but people really love trading in their games, guys. We're afraid of how things might escalate if Treyarch fights to keep their wavering attention. "No, wait, don't go," they might say, "now the game has dinosaurs!"
Oh shi- nice :D
That's somethign I can get behind!
I'm ok with dinosaurs.
Seriously, I'm amazed at this. It really seems like they are doing everything fucking right, and it sounds like this game will be awesome. Hopefully Activision sticks with Treyarch if this game is a huge success.
which would be better though Nazi dinosaurs or dinosaur zombies
zombie dinos fo' sho'. and what Leroy said, this shit is fucking perfect, exactly what I want to see.
So apparently they removed the "Join in Session" option for FFA also? Was there any other way to play with your friends in MW2 besides this option? Playing against a crowd of friends and still being able to level up was half of the fun of FFA.
er, besides joining their ffa match idk how else to get in there with friends besides just plain luck.

AND THE UN UN-NAZI'D THE NAZIS
Spoiler: show
If Fox news was really like that I'd be much more educated about the news
At least for the woman anchor parts
Taco, how did you get the impression they were taking about "Join the game" option for people in FFA? They said they were removing Tact insertions from FFA matches, didn't mention anything about that, and I doubt that they took out the option.

herpCall of Duty: Black Ops for PC will ship with dedicated server support this November, but there's a catch if you want to run your own server.
Activision and Treyarch studios announced GameServers.com will be the exclusive dedicated server provider when the game launches.
"We are extremely excited about this unprecedented relationship with Activision to offer dedicated servers exclusively for Black Ops", said GameServers CEO David Aninowsky. "We are placing a great amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure that we exceed any and all expectations."
According to GameServers' pre-order page, ranked servers will cost $14.95 a month for an 18 max player limit. Discounts are offered for monthly prepays. Unranked servers will cost $0.99 a month per player up to maximum of 24. Teamspeak support will have an additional fee. Discounts will be offered for a 3, 6, and 12 month prepay.
Treyarch Community Manager Josh Olin said this partnership will provide high-quality private servers at an affordable rate for the game and re-emphasized Treyarch-hosted dedicated servers will remain free.
"If players want to run a dedicated Ranked or Unranked server on the PC, they will have to rent one through GameServers," Olin told IGN. "Treyarch will be providing a fleet of 'Day-1 Servers' (through GameServers) which will be up and operational on November 9th.
"Nobody will have to rent a dedicated server through GameServers in order to play the game," says Olin. "But for anybody who wants to run their own server, it will be run from GameServers.com."
Olin added that this partnership adds the advantage of much more effective anti-cheating and hacking moderation.
"If you rent a server, you will still have the ability to Kick, Ban, and Configure it the way you see fit," Olin added. "Of course Ranked servers will have some set configurations that can't be messed with; but you will still have the power to administrate your servers as a customer of GameServers."
Call of Duty: Black Ops ships for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on November 9.
Seems cool, but doubt I will buy one. One of you guys I play with, cough up the dough.
does the dedicated servers thing apply only to pc?
Yes
Er, ima just play PS3 I think. Been thinkin about playing on pc
Well at least they have dedicated servers that you don't have to pay for, so I sitll view that as optional stuff and as such I don't mind that there is a cost.
