the text to video 'feature' makes it "that" much better.
Unrelated to the video, I just added a bunch of apps from espn scores to a first aid app. Also am giving dolphin browser a try. Idk if its me just being on percocet, but I'm falling in love with this browser, and also the phone in general all over again. I love my iTouch too- use it alot... but fuck the iPhone. comparing that to the evo- I'd never get one, even if I got it for free.
Compared to the iPhone 4, I wouldn't use an evo if I got it for free either. Wouldn't touch that gargantuan brick with a stick.
See what I did there?
We all have opinions though. Glad we have our own threads
haha that vid is great.
silly hipsters have steves lasso wrapped around their necks so tight...
as someone in irc said (ill keep name out incase they dont want it public)
"we cant be infected, the semen of steve jobs coats our throats perfectly, we are immuneeeeeeee!"
iPhone can't even do real multi tasking still.... how sad...
And next year iPhone 5 with the new low low price of 400$ after 2 yr contract and 100$ rebate to get TRUE multitasking!
Let's see what can all run simultaneously on my EVO at same time:
PUSH Notification Daemons for Gmail and Exchange (2 processes)
Facebook Sync
Weather Sync
Twitter Sync
Flickr Sync
Any other syncing app you want to DL
Streaming music Pandora
Watching Video on browser in Flash.
Downloading files (app updates etc or w/e the hell you want to DL)
Broadcasting WIFI hotspot over 4G speeds
Game running in background.
All at the same time.
Thats true multitasking. No Limits

In case you didn't know, apps can multitask if they're doing something on iPhone.... they just don't multitask if they're idle, doing nothing. that's when it saves state
The video is hilarious, but the guy who wrote it is an idiot. Saying that the camera has a higher resolution (as in more MP) is the ignorance equivalent of saying that "I want the one with more G B's". More megapixels doesn't equal more quality. In fact, in a lot of cases, the opposite is true.
Not to take anything away from the video, because it does hit the apple fanboys spot on, but to be honest, I think a fairer comparison to the iphone 4 is probably going to be the galaxy S. From the reviews I've read comparing the iphone 4 and Evo, it doesn't really seem comparable.
an hero, now that you've educated all of the evo users i think it's time to jump ship to the iphone. you don't even have to come back to the evo thread anymore, since there'll be no one left to preach to.
aikar what's the name of that % notification app you got?
BatteryTime
Got alot more phone pics on FB can see some the apps I have

The battery life
The screen
The Camera (still and video)
Physical size
Speed, from what I could gather, is pretty much equivalent.
If you want to argue service, that's fair, because AT&T sucks for some people, I understand. Also understand that very few people actually have true 4G access. I'm talking strictly devices however.
I have 4G access and i will sadly admit it does have problems penetrating buildings, but when your out in the open the speed is great.
it's really just a carrier thing, imo
evo will probably be the best phone to buy (droid x, maybe if you don't mind a fucking brick in your pocket). screen size + 4g should be major selling points, and if you can extend the battery with whatever app it is a better value for what you're paying. i'm stuck on att until I get out of college so I'll have like a fucking wall of iPhones by the time I finally switch
Camera:
The video was merely pointing out straight facts about the phone. Notice they said "a higher resolution camera" as opposed to saying "a better camera". Of course anyone who knows about this stuff knows that MP doesn't mean a whole lot. Everything that was said about the EVO 4G in that video up until "it fucking prints money." was dead on and pure facts. When it comes to phone cameras, beyond the 5 MP point it's all about the software and the camera's features that will be the deciding factors. The Galaxy S doesn't have a LED Flash, but the software has "Night Mode" which took pictures that had much more natural colors and provided more than enough lighting for it.
I've played around with both phones and found the iPhone 4 took better pictures than the EVO.
Battery:
EVO 4G's battery life is pretty poor at the moment. But theres an update today that may rectify that along with some other issues. Grounding issue etc. Check your HTC updates folks.
Screen:
I dont understand how these cant be compared? They should be. While some people would prefer a physically smaller but higher resolution screen some will want the opposite. Cause you know... Watching 720p/1080p videos on a phone with a 3.5" screen and a 4:3 aspect ratio is gonna get cut black borders on the top/bottom. Personally I think anything bigger than 4" for a phone screen is too big. Or are you the type that falls for the marketing schemes and thinks that the "Retina Display" is on some whole other league and can only be compared to something that is... Super AMOLED?
Physical Size:
How should this not be compared? I dunno what you're getting at.
Speed:
While you may think to yourself that the iPhone 4 has the same processor as the iPad. You probably don't know that the very same processor is running underclocked. If I recall correctly you're going somewhere around 700-800MHz as opposed to the Snapdragon running at 1GHz. Now you might resort the "oh clock speed isn't everything argument." and I agree with you. Thats why they should be compared... I want to see benchmarks performed on both phones.
I'm not trolling here. I'm honestly wondering why you picked those points as things that cannot be compared between the two phones.
Or you could get a Samsung Captivate aka the AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy S.i'm stuck on att until I get out of college so I'll have like a fucking wall of iPhones by the time I finally switch
yeah the main thing with battery reports on evo is that the default apps that runs on startup will drain battery faster, and some apps are cpu killers.
If you get system panel, exclude the common apps that you want to stay running like BG syncers etc, then killall, battery life is completely acceptable (needs to be recharged every night) for a typical workday. and there is a 1750mHa battery you can buy too people say extends it good.
you may want to consider the cost of the ETF vs how much youll keep paying them. may be worth just taking the ETF.
My bill is 69.99 for 450 mins to landlines before 7pm, free mobile calls any time, unlimited data (and sprint is really unlimited...) + 10 premium data they sadly force on you but i think its still cheaper with this 10$ charge, 30$ for wifi hotspot and 7$ for insurance.
after my 21% employee discount (EMBARQ/CenturyLink which branched off of sprint :D) bills under 100$/mo. sadly employee discount only applies to the 70$ phone plan portion ;(
Comparing the Hummingbird, Snapdragon, and A4 I thought that:
In terms of processor speed: Hummingbird > A4 > Snapdragon (not talking about clock speed here, just general architecture)
In terms of graphics: A4 = Snapdragon > Hummingbird
As with comparing the iPhone 3GS to the Nexus one (pre froyo) I don't think specs matter much. Optimization and chemistry between the software and hardware are paramount when creating a fluid experience.
i agree with a lot of what kuro says.
can't really argue battery because straight up out of the box the iphone should be winning. htc also pretty much turned every single sync and antenna on so people who aren't tech savvy lose their battery in hours. it's only once you root and tweak with the right settings/rom that you can get crazy battery life. my best uptime so far has been 40 hours and i coulda gone longer without charge if i didn't hate the notification led so much.
camera yeah it seems like iphone takes better pics, so gotta give it up there.
screen: i like the bigger screen. the detail on iphone is better. just personal pref i guess.
size is w/e to me. i don't like smaller phones cause i don't like holding with two fingers or putting a full grasp on covering the entirety of it. i'd guess that most people think the phone is too big for them, though in the end it's really what you prefer and are most comfortable holding.
Is it factual that it has more megapixels? yeah? It's also a misleading fact preying on ignorance that megapixels actually matter.
Screen. It's no comparison. The quality difference is dramatic. Make fun of the silly "retina" marketing ploy all you want, but the screen size difference doesn't come near to justifying the quality difference. The pixel density alone pulls it away.
Physical size. WTF hueg vs compact. I'll take my compact.
Speed, I didn't say they weren't comparable. I said they were very much comparable.
