HTC Evo vs iPhone 4G (new summer phone debate)

The only problem I see with all this; is that while Google is putting out the Froyo update for the Nexus One, its up to Sprint/Verizon to modify the OS for the Evo 4G/Droid Incredible since they run HTC's Sense UI. Look how long it took Sprint's Hero to get Eclair...

Hopefully they step up their game and stay right behind Google for these updates.

It's not so much up to Sprint/Verizon as it is HTC, since the UI modifications are on their end.

Its a going war with HTC/Sprint it seems........ i'm a hero user, who has been waiting for the 2.1 update for months now.

On HTC's twitter page, they updated it around january I believe....... pumping excitement for Hero users by saying they submitted the 2.1 update to sprint, and once they approve it will be released to end-users.

4-5 months later....... all we keep getting from sprint is "Early Q1 Release!"

........Early Q2 Release!

and as of friday..... "2.1 released on samsung moment! Hero users your next!"

So i'm gonna say its mostly sprint cockblocking this update, because they gotta have those nascar and NFL content added!

Probably not for this phone, but I'm sure this will become the norm in another year or two. (at least as far as 4g)

Froyo's SDK just went live. Look forward to a Cyanogen mods popping up in the coming weeks. ;o

Still a few weeks before Google releases it.
Then MOAR weeks for HTC to port it to all handset models...

Can't fucking wait.

It's disabled by default while you're on 3G, but you can turn it on.

Sprint finally offically releases 2.1 update, while users with root can already get 2.2 LOL

Currently 2.2 rom that is floating around is a "Play rom"

The only thing that works on the rom is 3g data........ nothing else is working (audio/sense/GPS etc...) as of yet, until someone else releases a more stable 2.2

Then you can probably find out if sense will be on 2.2

I mean like HTC sense, as in, if you had an evo and upgraded, what would you be losing. I'm mainly concerned with getting the hotspot to work without paying the extra fee from sprint.

That is easy, root it and then install whatever you want.
