aren't overcrowded lines supposed to be normal for a phone like this on its first day?

either way, the more i play with this phone, the more i like it. sprint HTC phones did have issues in the past, but that was mostly because they overloaded those phones with shitty sprint mobile apps (nascar app for example) on shitty software (windows mobile 6 is atrocious).

you still get some of those useless apps but the evo is obviously way more than capable of handling it both cause of the specs and the fact that it's not WM6.

i'd have to highly recommend this phone. unless you're a girl who wears clothes that have have small or no pockets.

Posting from it right now, can't speak for the battery life yet since it was already at half charge but everything else so far is awesome. Missing a physical keyboard a bit but the huge screen size covers up for that along with Androids fairly solid auto complete. Every app I've tested out so far runs like a dream.

The HTC Evo supports Flash so that sold me. Congratulations to everyone else getting this phone, it is really great. Fuck Apple and their Anti-Flash stupidity. Also Sprint coverage is everywhere like Verizon, so no worries on my part. Not to mention there's no Application restrictions like Apple and Android is open source. So many mods/UI/emulators that can be made to run on this tiny little device. The possibilities are endless. I know I sound like an advertisement lol but this phone is sex appeal right out of the box.

Battery charge is going to suck for a week or two but after that it's better. :3

First thing I did once it was activated was grabbing all the various nintendo system emulators, which basically gives me zero reason to keep my PSP around now when I have all my emulators on my phone.

I have had it for 2 weeks, it idles pretty well and thats with Google Talk always on. I been able to go a full day while using Pandora in the car and browsing Reddit and shit in my bored time.

Keep in mind in my house Sprint only has 1 bar so it constantly seeks a better EVDO signal and ends up using a lot more battery last a day even if I don't put it on the charger. I am so used to putting my Pre on the Touchstone charger, I haven't got used to plugging this thing in unless I really need to.

    I wouldn't say everywhere. It's the reason I have AT&T.

any emulators i should be looking at besides snesoid? is there anything that'll let me save/load snapshots for free?

also, any suggested places to get the roms themselves?

Gensoid(Genesis), Gameboid(GBA) should cover everything... Nesoid if you like the NES. I know there is a PSX one secretly in the work but no ETA on that one.

For roms and about everything android related...

They have Device specific forums but EVO 4G ones are going to be empty for a bit.

    Bookmark them, love them.

Lol, thats kinda funny. I guess since it Sprint doesn't charge for roaming, that's not too bad, but I'd still like to be in a 4G area if I got this. I don't like being the last one of my friends to get a smartphone so if we do switch to Sprint, this sounds like a pretty decent phone.

Are calls/service dropped if you switch from a network to roaming? I hardly make long calls, especially when moving in a car or something, but it'd still be pretty crappy to lose service because of it.

Yeah so far I'be thrown on snesoid and the gameboid. Snesoid had no issues with chrono trigger, and just a bit of scratchy audio in ff6. Haven' t tried out any other games but those two are somewhat notorious for emulators so I'd say if those two are good most games should be fine on the evo.

Will probably get this phone if I can get the rest of the family to move to sprint. Otherwise I get to wait till march 2011 :/

K so on the subject of the battery, I wanted to fully kill the battery since it's always a good idea to that when you first get your electronics. It's at about the 8 and half hour mark at this point with 10% to go, and I've been basically fucking with it nonstop while I watched TV. Movies, calls, games, music, youtube, porn, etc.

So I think the moral of the story is if I can use it nonstop for 8+ hours without the battery running out of juice, it should be just fine under normal operation.

That's basically what engadget said. They said they get a full day of use out of it, but by the end of the day its nearing full battery drain.

Can you try Super Mario RPG or Yoshi's Island?

Those are 2 games that use a special chip which causes rather poor emulation on the PSP, wondering if the Android is able to handle it.

    Thanks! :D

Yeah the calls drop when switching over networks. But that's a small price to pay for having coverage over like 97% of America lol.

And the evo doesn't support flash until froyo is released. At the rate sprint gets updates out and considering how difficult some of them are to perform HTML5 might take over by then lol

Well technically HTC Phones support Flash under 2.1 thanks to Flash Lite, but it's not made for videos and such.

My house is technically in a roaming area, so does that mean I can only use like the 300mb of data or w/e a month? I only live here for 3 months so I don't think it'll be a big deal but I'd like to know... and that dropping calls over switching network towers kinda blows.

I don't live in a 4G area right now so no reason to turn it on.

Mario RPG - Slight sound hiccups but game played for the few minutes I tested it

Yoshi's Island - Intro screen lagged, gameplay thru the first level seemed totally fine, Baby Mario sounds just as annoying as he did back in the day. Defintely want some kind of bluetooth controller to play this or other action games, touchscreen buttons just don't do it for an action game.
