I was in a relationship for 5 years(22-27)when my ex suddenly broke it off. I decided to move to Florida from Ohio to try something new as I had lived in Michigan my entire life excluding 10 months I spent in Toledo, Ohio. After a time of depression/sadness/whatever you get after a long relationship, I got a job and started putting myself out there socially for mainly new friends in my new area and kept an eye open for a chick I could meet.
I don't know if it's the area I live in Florida(Sarasota), but girls are super stuck up and the majority of them I've met think they are all beauty queens even when I'd give them a 6/10. I'd say I'm a decent looking guy, average build, and I do have my shit together as far as my personal life but no luck.
What's funnier to me is trying to make new guy friends seems just as difficult if not more. I've said something to guy coworkers about hanging out at clubs, sporting events, etc and I get that "are you coming on to me?" look. Try and strike up a conversation randomly with strangers and they look at you like your a serial killer. It's funny and sad at the same time.
After getting re-settled in Michigan I'll register for the sites and even look into more of the "networking" websites for more friends. One thing that struck me while reading this thread was how many have said they get great feedback from people they message with similar interests. Looking back at my ex, I think we had grown apart for quite some time because we really didn't share too many things in common. She hated ffxi and all other games I got hooked into, rock/metal music, etc etc. I don't want to go thru that again really.
