I'm sorry, maybe we're into way different types of girls or something, but messaging some one with a story about dancing next to a highway for two hours outside your car would just come across as very weird to most people I know. But hey, there's nothing like starting out what could be the beginning of a relationship with a lie to get things started right. And I agree with Saga and Seph, if you're actually interested in some one you don't forget to contact them. You may be too busy to respond right away, but if they are actually of any importance to you it's not something you completely lose track of. And I'm sorry for being so blunt about this, but that "knock knock" message seems just awful to me. I can't imagine some one not getting creeped out by it, but like I said, we could be into people with very different personalities.

Personally I think it's hilarious this was posted on page 2 by Archi and nobody said anything about it. I post about it now saying copy it, it works and now a big deal is made of it lol. Though going back, archi actually said "tap tap, is this thing on?"

Is your proof the percentage that girls respond to you sending one message versus you sending a different message? You turned it into a scientific experiment, dude -- not cool. You get credit for crunching the numbers, and that's sort of interesting to see the results, but listen -- you have your 'proof,' and I have my own. If your methods work for you, awesome. But in my experience, the majority of the time, girls are going to be creeped out by "knock knock" and they're going to be bored with "tell me something interesting about yourself! " There's more interesting ways to ask someone to tell you something interesting. Also I don't think guys don't use smiley faces, most of my female friends think that's weird, too, they all say there's something feminine about it.

I'm not boasting either (I also want to be clear nothing in this thread was about boasting, though I think that should be easy to tell). I've been taking the site seriously the past month, and I've met with 4 girls, but all but one were recently. I also have two during this week and then two next weekend. Things were slow at first as I tried to see what works. When I found what works, I figured I'd share. But haters gonna hate.

There's more to the message, but I didn't think it'd particularly matter since that's the only part we were discussing. The rest of the message is simply continuing the discussion we were having, it's not exactly interesting lol, and since it had one paragraph of something private I figured that was suffice.

Oh, and this was actually from a girl that I hadn't responded to in two weeks, and I told her I was sorry, meant to and forgot (I'm rather surprised you guys have never done this). The one thing you guys are missing in this is - girls will get 5, 8, 12 messages a day on Okcupid. Let's say she doesn't look at her inbox for 4 days, and then pops in and quickly blows through the messages, is busy, doesn't respond to anything, just looks - just that is a fair amount of work. A followup if you find someone particularly interesting is fine - you should realize that most of the time a girl will spend about 10 seconds looking at a profile - girls don't read shit, they get too many messages to take the time.

But anyway, my "tap tap is this thing on" was only because we'd done a back-and-forth already, she seemed interested but then disappeared on the followup. I never did end up taking that girl out though, she was a flake.

Maybe some less internet-savvy girls would be charmed by that but to me it comes across as desperate and creepy. Sometimes when girls answer back to that they just feel bad for you and make small pleasant conversation and hope you'll eventually go away. (For the record I am in a happy relationship that started online atm and have lots of online->rl dating experience).
