Don't take it so hard. I felt the same way for a while with the site. Talked about 'giving up' a few times, even made some journal comments on site about things you've complaining about. But eventually I did find the right girl and we're doing great, you just need to keep trying and looking for the right one. The one that you want/need, not what other people think you want/need. Eventually, she'll come around. Maybe she's not on that site, maybe she is. But it doesn't hurt to put a little effort into okcupid, just don't take things too too seriously and personal.
Fear of not ever doing better. That's really the only reason young people have to get married. I cannot for the life of me understand why people my age (like 21) are already getting married, lots of my friends are, it's just weird...
Not trying to be funny but that sounds like a recipe for some easy head, she is obviously putting you on a pedestal, you're probably decent looking, she feels ugly so she's nervous about messing up and not getting a date two. Usually it's the guy who's in this situation which is why the woman tends to have control over the sexual interactions.
Here's a question to some vets: What would you say the success rate would be messaging women who have visited your profile? Or perhaps what is the probability a woman who likes your profile actually sends you a message?
Thanks dudes, I'll start messaging more.
I'm sitting at 26 visitors per week right now. It's not logging in that ups it. If you update your profile, upload a pic, or publicly answer a question, it'll show that you did it on other peoples "home" page. Best I can figure is that women just browse any interesting profiles based on that home page. If I log in for whatever reason, I answer a question publicly and that usually grabs like 2~3 views on average.
I had the same thoughts run through my head for sure. It was just the massive disappointment, the total lack of attraction and the fact that she really was nice as hell that stopped me from pushing it.
Was kind of annoyed at this site for a while, had a bunch of fat chicks and chicks who were 60% enemy message me, along with some who think "hey" and "=]" as the entire message is somehow appropriate. I don't get responses if I message chicks with that, why the hell should it work on me. Had a really awesome convo with a chick I didn't think I had much chance of getting a reply back from actually, so my faith is restored for now. She is absolutely beautiful and pretty cool. This needs to work out a little bit lol, I'm owed one after the last debacle with this site.
Man, any chick that can type properly on such sites gives me a boner these days.
My current woman from OKC actually messaged me so I wouldn't make assumptions.
As for people messaging you with like 60% enemy I find that their % for each category can sometimes be misleading as some of the questions you answer are stupid and if they answer something different more then a few times it can throw the %'s off a lot. My last GF from OKC was 70%ish and my current one I'm seeing is like 60% but we click on a lot of levels.
Just saying..
I met a girl from OkCupid yesterday at 6pm. I just got home (12:25pm in my time zone, so that's 18 hours). Needless to say, I had an awesome time.
(Before anyone asks, we didn't have sex).
Did you stay up all night talking about science?
I'll never understand the fascination with dating online.
There's plenty of sluts and man whores around.
Well, we've actually been talking for about a month now, but we had never met in person (she's the one I was talking about on the last pages of this thread. I asked her if she spoke English).
Yesterday we finally met. We met at starbucks at about 6 and just talked for about 45 minutes. Then we went to campus and found a grand piano and played songs for each other and a few duets for about an hour. Then I took her to her friends house, which is where we were supposed to part. I gave her a hug, said goodbye and she got out the car to get in her friend's car. Then her friend suggested that I go with them.
When we got to her friend's house, my date and I went out on the balcony for privacy (my date's friend, and the roomate were both home and had guys over). We talked for about an hour, then somehow we ended up making out for a while. Then we went inside, watched a movie with her friend and the guy her friend had over. And by "watched a movie", I mean "we made out while a movie played". Then her friend and the guy went to one of the bedrooms, and my date and I tried to talk, but neighbors and the roomate kept complaining about the noise even though we weren't making that much. So we just ended up just kissing and whispering to each other all the way until about noon, and we did manage to get about an hour of sleep (I think). Somehow we got a noise complaint when we were just kissing and whispering to each other, which didn't make sense to me because we couldn't have been louder than the weather outside.
Figure I'll post some of my stories from okcupid. I've had about 10 dates total so far this past year since I joined in like March and have never messaged a girl before, they've always messaged me first. Partly because I really didn't care to date anyone longterm and also I found it makes it easier when you already know they are interested in you. I would say out of the 10 dates, 2 were girls that I actually clicked with/were smokin' hot and the rest were quite crazy or we had nothing in common/were fat. Only hooked up with 1 girl out of the 10, but ended up going out on a follow up date and realized I was doing all the talking so I ended that.
Honestly, your success rate with any dating site really depends on how much you want to date someone. If you are really proactive about it and schedule 3 dates a week for a month, I'd pretty much guarantee you will find someone you really like. Play the numbers game, at worst you end up having fun or went out and was social.
