Cleveland's a bit of a shit hole. I've had way better luck going out to Coventry and meeting girls there than when I was on OKcupid for a couple months when I moved here, but it's about a 35-40 minute drive out there from where I am. The dates I went on were fine -- Indians game at Progressive Field, few bars out in Beachwood and Shaker Heights -- but it's just easier to meet people in person for me. Avoid the whole awkward "have I talked to chick enough yet? when can I ask this girl out and it won't seem weird or too early?"

One time I messaged a girl and she asked me out for dinner on her very first reply. She was from Akron, but it was from eVow.com, not OKC. Usually I just ask them out when I feel like it.

edit: Doesn't that have more to do with being more desirable to women at an older age? one of the oktrends articles had 26+ as the cutoff where women get more desperate then men. Men don't hit their prime in terms of appeal to women until 26+ according to okc.

There was also a similar chart for income (I think it was in the same blog post), so it's probably a combination of both.

Edit: With my current gf, she asked for my phone number after about 5 messages and some chatting. I asked her out, and she said no. Two weeks later I asked her out and she said no again. A few weeks later I asked her out once again, and this time...she said no again.

I was ready to give up, but eventually (a few weeks after the last time I asked her) she asked me to meet her for coffee. I think I already explained what happened earlier in this thread (we ended up spending 18 hours straight together, from 6pm to 12pm the next day).

eh, I've had great conversations with girls who sent shitty first messages, I wouldn't be so quick to judge. not saying you will, but its hardly a great indicator for a variety of reasons.

I had success with OKC, got laid a couple times, had my heart ripped out by one of em, stopped using though once I realized I've gotten quite good at picking girls up irl (I could have definitely hooked up with more as well, I just kinda stopped pursuing a couple for variety of reasons). Still a nice tool though, just gotta be short, creative, & usually funny with your first message and send a lot out.

I actually got divorced about a year ago, after about 6 months of self loathing which caused me to whore myself around for a while I thought I'd try dating again but due to my work schedule and abnormal days off it was a little hard. I'm not really into dating a chick that I meet at a bar, that shit never works. Anyway...

I have never tried online dating and my friend suggested I try it so I tried out plentyoffish since that's the only dating site I knew of, that was free because I didn't want to pay for it, and I'm over all pleased with the experience but a BIG word of advise before you start it, know what you're looking for and the type of person you want to date. It's easy to weed through the bullshit and the people you know you shouldn't date if you already have that in mind.

I initially set up dates with a few people. I think I dated 5-6 different chicks and wasn't too stoked on any of them but they weren't bad experiences, I just wasn't really feeling it. Well... One of them was a bad experience but could have been worse. I had the most success with chicks that hit me up, rather than the ones I hit up. My girlfriend now I met on that site and she's one of the ones that hit me up. Things are going good and we've been together for 6 months now.

Just be patient and go into it expecting nothing and you'll do fine. If you need any more specific info or tips just ask.
