The bizarrest thing is that in my profile I say I'm not looking for anyone (because I'm not), I mostly just keep it open to see some of the funny things people write to me!

The one about the basketball player and the monk had me dying. Im gonna copypasta that.
@Rich. Seriously gonna consider it. Been looking for a change of scenery if only for a weekend. Ill let you know.
Linliel: you see, looking at those and reading your reactions makes me even more paranoid in finding something witty and original to post to girls haha, but I suppose they're special cases
In this case (yeh I know back on topic) what would be some of the ones you would reply to? :D
(if you were looking)
I've been seeing profiles that mention they make a mean sandwich. So if I see a chick with that I shoot em "So these sandwiches, do you cut them diagonally or straight in half? Your response is imperative to our future correspondence."
Almost always gets a response and the length of the response varies. Here's one I ended up getting a number off of.
I cut the crust off. And cut it in half so I have two rectangles. Then I make 15 more sandwiches and cut them the same way and make miniature sky scrapers for my old smurf figurines.
Hope that's the answer you're looking for (:
If you ever want to pick up a woman who is COMPLETELY out of your league go to Church and appear to love God.i've also heard that a good place to find woman is church.
I met my girlfriend via Geek2Geek. The site was well worth the money although I did have a few dud conversations before I had my date with her.
Sure thing, I'll post some that I would reply to (most of them talk about my profile a lot, so I'll remove particular details of theirs).
"I don't think I've ever met anyone who okcupid thinks I'm a 98% match with, so I figured I should at least say hi![]()
I'm actually quite curious about your writings, the [academic area I work in] have always fascinated me (both in a science fiction and a practical day-to-day context), what kind of topics are you working on ?"
Good things about this: directly talks to me as a person, not a "piece of meat". Asks me a question that is something i'm pretty passionate about. Can obviously spell.
"Awww, I like you. You seem cool. That's a hello, sort of"
Good things about this: This message isn't so great itself, but the person had a super interesting profile. Lots of detail about themselves, written in a funny, personable sort of way. Also they were hot :D
Another one:
"How are the macaroons? I keep reading it as macrons for some reason. Maybe you should make long ones, macron macaroons, possibly whilst dancing the macarena.
I sympathize with your chocolate plight, as I seem to have been born in the wrong country for my chocolate tastes (it's the milk...who thought that one up?). But as someone who puts chilli powder in hot chocolate you may want to ignore me.
Hmm....still no preferences for where in the world you'd want your retirement farm? If you're only going to eat what's grown there you should probably go with your food tastes. Hmmm...where do they grow cocoa? I think I'd probably have to go there.
Oh, and any idea which 12% of you is my enemy? I'll try avoid it. Hopefully it's lots of spleen and suchlike rather than an arm or leg, which could get tricky.
I hope you're enjoying your weekend!"
Very personally targeted, sense of humour, can write a sentence. Big plus in my books!
"I saw, and liked your profile and thought I'd say hello! I'm always very curious about other PhDs or ex-PhDs, as I am currently slogging my way through one. So, what was yours on?"
Nothing like the student plight to get me on side ;P
Hope that helps?![]()
Lin-
This very topic has been gnawing at me for a while. I've tried the okcupid thing for a while, never really got any responses. I'm a fairly good looking guy, bit above average. Getting my bachelors, no job but looking (in this economy shouldn't be a surprise there). Is looks an instant deal breaker for you? I try to be witty and personable when I message a woman, but I've never seen a response. It's driving me nuts. I have to figure out whats wrong. Is it just the massive amount of messages women get that's the issue?
For me? No way. If you're funny and interesting and personal in a message that'll pique my interest well before I go and check out your profile (after all, I'll read the message before I see any pics - it's how OKC works). Then for me it's a bonus if you're not hit with the ugly stick.Mind you I don't know who you're messaging so it's tough for me to know what you might be doing wrong - but from the sounds of things you're doing fine, just need to stick with it? Sorry I can't really help you more, if you want to PM me some of the written parts of your profile and a couple of messages you've sent maybe I can give you some more advice.
Good to know. I know there's a ton of creeps out there. I had a lady friend sign up for it. She told me some horror stories. Half a dozen pictures of guys' dicks, sleazy emails, the like. Kind of fighting a crowd of losers to prove i'm not a pervert haha. Thank you for the offer, I just might hit you up on that.
Inspirational story time.
Came home from Superbowl party hammered. Got e-mail from OKCupid telling me so and so girl is a good match and I should send her a message. OKC does this weekly so I didn't think much of it but the girl was a cute redhead, and I am a sucker for redheads and I was drunk, so I said fuck it and sent her a message. She replied back and we chatted a few times. Met up tonight at a local pub, shared beers for about 2 hours and had a blast. Did not smash, but got a pretty hot goodnight kiss, I am happy with that. Probably the best date I've ever had, online dating setup or not. DREAMS CAN COME TRUE.
Met my wife online 8 years ago. Been married for 3 years, can't complain.
