FFXIStyle not working?

Awesome, ive had ffxi calc for a long time, never even noticed that tab. So set it to highest quality which is great! Bofore everything was fine save when duststorms popped, would drop me down to like 15fps or so, give or take. Now, they bring me to 5 lol, and no weather sits at 10

So I have some questions, is there something I can do to still get near these newly amazing graphics w/o the fr prob? And if not is there a rec. on a graphics card to go get (since I figure ill most likely need one for ffxiv)? (im nearly computer retarded, all I know is my comp is about 1.5 yrs old, if you want to know about it, just make sure to explain where I can find info you want on here) thanks! =D

It's my understanding that the best you can do is get a faster processor. FFXI seems mostly CPU based, but someone can correct me if I'm incorrect.

I'm running 3.4ghz quad core, and I still drop to 10fps in whitegate or dynamis (but I'm 1920x1200 and 2048x2048 bg resolution)

Drivers, use shitty versions and you'll end up with drops below 26FPS on a modern system. Reason why I say that is because your processor is more than enough to max out. As I've ran 29FPS @ 2048x2048 3D on a Core2Duo 2.6ghz + x1800XT in WG or Aery easily. Newest drivers are not always the best, same goes for older versions. I've had to test many different driver versions/builds in the past with all my cards just to find good/perfect ones. (Specifically ATi, but from my understanding. Nvidia is no better in that department, as certain builds work better with XI than others.)

I think the only place in the game where that old setup suffered was Batallia downs in the past, due to some performance glitch when looking north of the tower (I'm guessing its clipping plane related, 100% sure its not campaign-mob related.)

I play on a 46inch LCD, with a res of 1920x1060 (gotta have room for the taskbar, ya know). While the game looks outstanding with the settings I've got through FFXICalc, the text is bloody small, especially on the HP/MP bars. Is there a way I can fix this, or is there a dat mod available to increase the text size?

Back when I was on XP, I just used the magnifying software that came with my mouse drivers, but for whatever reason it has much worse performance on Windows 7.

id run at 1280x720, you shouldnt really notice a difference in picture quality but should be able to read it now

I've been running at 800x600... it's actually a pretty cool resolution.
Great for screenshots (as far as full screenshots for websites/blogs).
It doesn't tax your system as hard as a full settings 1920x1080+
The game looks a little better as well as far as organization, not small text etc.. personal preference really.

As for the graphics, I triple whatever window resolution I'm using.
