    Recommendations for an narrowband period.

So I'm moving to a cellular connection soon while convincing an ISP to plant a junction box near me and that means all my awesome FPS gaming is coming to a grinding halt. (yay ffxi & C&C4 still, I guess.) So while I still have a week, I want to download a few new series of good television that I can power through since I have an entire month off before starting anything.

The latest bevy of shows I've come to love are along the lines of House & Bones, with throwbacks such as Star Trek (DS9/Ent, Voy I guess) and Stargate (all three.) Basically shows with some or real science with character building and drama. Science fiction jumps to the head of the line as well, obviously.

    So can anyone recommend anything?

X-Files! At least the seasons where Mulder/Scully were the leads.

Only thing I can really think of that's like those shows is Fringe. It's basically like a new-age X-files with better drama. Everyone I know who likes it seems to like Bones, although I've never really seen more than a few episodes of that show.

Fringe, a thousand times over. Its on the end of season two, and up until the most recent episode (was some crazy filler) I've loved every single episode. Nice twists, and it has this neat little perk of like, you can sometimes put plot points together on your own, its not too hard to follow but also not stupid and easy to follow either. There are tons of easter eggs and repeating elements they throw in throughout the series that make it interesting to pick out this and that, or see similarities, or things reused from other episodes.

Other than that, I follow house, 24 (8 seasons now), and V (only like 8? episodes in.)

Reiterating, if you like House and Bones, then try NCIS and Castle, good investigative drama; Fringe is great for the sci-fi.

If you want something more comedy then try Psych, something with more action go for Burn Notice. For something more Ocean's Eleven, try White Collar.

Thanks for the recommendations so far. Picking them all up. :D

Any other favorites to mention? I tend to marathon shows when possible (House S1-4 was done in like a handful of sittings, heh,) so the further in, the better.

I agree with all the suggestions so far. Personally though, I grew up on x-files and like it more than fringe because I don't really care for all of the silly twists and random things that happen just because. NCIS is solid, I love the character development episodes the best, but they're not often. Burn notice is good action/drama and a little bit of the backbone storyline is revealed throughout each episode. Loved BSG

Dexter is like a darker version of Bones, crime solving/mystery, main character is a serial killer that kills bad guys that slip through the system. 4 seasons now?

Eureka is great, 3 seasons, about a hidden science town of geniuses that produce future technologies, comedy/scifi

I could have bought an 11 pull and have 1000 gems left over, but all I got was this silly title.

Since you like older sci-fi. Babylon 5 (and all the movies) and Farscape.

Dexter I'm already caught up on. Thanks for reminding me about Eureka though!

I watched Farscape when it originally aired, loved it. Couldn't even get into Babylon 5 though for some reason.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say you've seen Firefly?

The early seasons of Numb3rs are decent if you like crime/character drama.

love breaking bad. Bryan Cranston from malcolm in the middle (Hal) is brilliant in this. 3rd season just started recently

I think all of the shows I follow have been covered lol, except the comedy shows: the office, the big bang theory,

Can't say I can disagree at all with these choices. I would say that while NCIS is a great show, if you are limited in space, just turn on USA. 90% of the time you will find either it or Law & Order.

Other stuff that hasn't been mentioned ... I like Justified. Its getting better and better each week. But if you are looking for a really good show with multiple seasons you can't go wrong with Sons of Anarchy.

There isnt a lot of good SciFi that hasn't been mentioned. If you are looking for mediocre SciFi stuff that is just there for the hot chick ... can't go wrong with Dark Angel... lol.

Sitcom stuff ... The only two newer comedies that really hit it with me have been Better off Ted and Community.

Course then you have the shows you are probably already watching like Caprica, Chuck, Human Target and Eureka.

Edit: Oh and if you like the Ocean's Eleven, heist type show with Anti-heroes... Leverage is pretty good. First season has its ups and downs, but it gets better. Plus it has everyone's favorite Borg, Jeri Ryan, for some episodes in Season 2.
