However, was pretty consistent with the comics on those items.

    Yeah, I just googled it.
I never followed the older comics, but seemed they strayed as well, however this movie kept constant with the old comics, so thats good at least.
Still nice to see norse stuff back in popular media.

Most people were saying the wished they spent more time on earth, but I wish it was more focused in asgard, but thats just because I like my norse mythology I guess. But unfortunately they went different directions with some of the 'true norse lore'; namely the odin, thor, loki relationship...

Just came back from watching it. I liked it. Had some good humor and seemed to be paced well. I couldn't follow some of the action in the beginning but it might have been the 3D's fault? Waited all weekend for today and went when everyone was a work/school. Empty theater ftw~

I didn't have much prior info on Thor other than what I wiki'd before headed out but something I thought of after I left:
    Spoiler: show
From what I understand, the Destroyer is an invincible and indestructible suit of armor. After Thor knocks its beam back and slams it into the ground, it's still just laying there? I know it's nitpicking in an otherwise enjoyable movie, just irked me a little.

I might suggest that The Destroyer can't be taken out by normal attacks against it, but his own beam might be destructive enough to do the job.

Technically (well 616 canoically anyways) speaking, the Destroyer is supposed to be so strong that if it's visor were opened all the way, it would annihilate Earth.

But, in the 616 universe Thor is also strong enough that he could crack the Earth in half if he was fighting at full strength, but Thor's strength is usually toned down heavily, especially if Bendis is writing. In the Thor series that ran in the 90s/early 2000s, there was a whole alternate future storyline that involved Thor literally killing every single hero on the planet by himself, though Wolverine did manage to cut off one of his arms.

And for whoever missed it, JMS = J. Michael Straczynski, the creator of Babylon 5 and writer for Thor when they brought him back into the Marvel Universe a few years ago

Yeah, I caught that too, and did a little dance in my seat when I saw it.

The armor is controlled by someone, and ends up stomping the shit out of Thor in every encounter. He only gets off alive by some sort of gimmick or something happening to its controller/changing their mind.

I really dislike how Bendis plays down Thor's strength I mean, come on, it's fucking Thor ! He wields Mjolnir like a fucking boss yo.

Just got back from watching it. Liked the movie, never been too much into the Thor comics but i'm huge into Norse mythos so I had to look up some stuff when I got home since they bend around the mythology here and there.

    Spoiler: show
After the credits, what was the item Fury showed the scientist who was being manipulated by Loki?

Yeah Heimdall was one of my favorite things about this movie. I was surprised how much screen time he got. That makes me happy. If he had gotten killed during the movie I'd have raged SO fucking hard.

I still find it funny that they portrayed Heimdall as black when he's know as the whitest god.

All about the international box office, same reason Stellan Skarsgaard played random scientist, and Rene Russo was Thor's moms.

Can be interpreted in many ways. Primarily being the "purest" of the gods. Even though his character is carried as white throughout Marvel History. Look at Nick Fury.

Sometimes a change is for the best.
