Iron Man series have been the best superhero flicks ive seen, so I hoping Thor is great, I just havent had time to hit the theater

Honestly Thor was ok, it wasnt as good as IM or IM2 though. Don't know why people are overrating it so much - I'm not saying it's bad but the crazy reviews it's getting are....crazy

Iron man had better (main) character development but thor honestly takes a fat dump on IM 1 and 2 combined in the action department and overall entertaining story department. I'm glad that they really just went succinct with the back story and made it as visually amazing as possible. Granting the best fight scene to the back story was just a smart idea since of the three, thor was easily going to be the hardest one to get people into. Idris Elba, despite the aesthetic, commanded the heimdall role and honestly I like the good characterization over worrying about the aesthetic. That said I found thor to be far more entertaining than IM 1 and 2 but that's because I think iron man having a trilogy is just annoying aside from the setting up of the avengers franchise. If we could have gotten here without iron man 2 I would have rather it gone that way because while I like the IM movies, I don't like IM himself enough to give enough of a shit to watch a story that I already know about tony stark for 6 hours altogether. When I had nothing to compare it to, I really loved IM but with hulk and thor in the mix now, I really just regard IM 1 and 2 as a trailer for the actually entertaining characters.

Plus he has easily one of the single worst rogues galleries in the history of comic books. If whiplash wasn't just crimson dynamo I would fear he'd be the third villain. If they had a way to just get to the mandarin out the gate, I'd rather have that. The best thing about iron man is that he's such a central part of the avengers setup but his personal comic and overall story is just one note. (Did someone steal the iron man technology? If so, story. If not, drinking.)

Bitching tl;dr: Tony stark is amazing a character, iron man is a boring ass hero.

Also FK YEAH HAWKEYE. The second I saw the shot pan from the gun to the bow, I geeked out waiting to see Jeremy Renner. His scene was my favorite in the movie. Hands down.

Clark Gregg's agent coulson is one of the best unifying characters in the overall continuity too.

This. When I went to go see the movie, I went with a buddy and my roommates (two girls). They obviously have no idea what is what in the whole sense of the Avengers and the marvel universe but they have seen IM1/2 and the hulk prior to Thor. When Coulson showed up they were like "what is this guy doing here again?" had to explain to the bitches the whole story about what is going on and they still don't get it.

I really had very little knowledge of both Iron Man and Thor before the movies (stuck to X-Men/Captain America/Spiderman) but ended up loving all of them and I felt like I liked the Thor story alot better, though Tony Stark is a bad ass.

I swear I got hard when odin came down to "rescue" thor from the ice giants and their king, fucking slepnier with all legs intact, spear in his hand, sword at the side, that was fucking awesome and I wish there had been more of odin fighting
