the old quake cheats were GOD, IMPULSE 9, IMPULSE 255, etc.
There were also old SV_ HOST_ and R_ variables you could muck with to completely change the physics.

Misinformation abound.

You're welcome.

A long article and the breakdown of Flash and Mr. Jobs.
I love you both.
I also still fail to see why non-developers are even spending time bothering with this at this stage. Consumer-side, I don't see any changes, major or minor, happening. Development side, a few minor changes at best depending on the implementation. As one of the articles above mentioned, anyone that invests in html5 format now will just have to change it again in the future to be standards-compliant.
That, and the article brings up a good point too (tho this will /probably/ be worked around...). If Flash support drops, ads will no longer be in Flash. No more adblock/noscript to remove unwanted ads from the page. Firefox consumers should be hating that right now.
That's one of the most biased articles I've read lately.
I wonder why they're so focused on videos. It's the flash apps/games/etc. non-videos that we're really missing, on devices that don't support flash.
The videos are a non-issue, because they can be encoded however you like, and every website out there that uses flash video could use any other format whenever they please. As for flash websites whose primary use of flash is for rollovers and effects, that's easily enough fixed just by using javascript.
But apps, games, chat, etc. are the main use of flash, not videos, and are a different animal altogether and should be the primary concern. That's what's gonna take so long to transition to some other format besides flash.
That article actually brought up a lot of really good points regarding API, and I agree with a lot of it from a developer's standpoint.
I had to laugh at the obligatory applefan rage flood, though.
It's true, Adobe has never really marketed themselves as a video container, so I'm not sure why so much of this is focused on video either, aside from the fact that several sites focus on flash-based video. While a good internet video codec standard is very important, it's ultimately the other applications that flash has to offer that give it the most value.I wonder why they're so focused on videos. It's the flash apps/games/etc. non-videos that we're really missing, on devices that don't support flash.
