2 DD tanks on either side of Krabkatoa, Chakra off Venom Shower, keep it debuffed, be aware of Mega Scissors hate reset, use height differences to avoid Bubble Shower/Venom Shower on backline and uh... just keep punching.

If you think your DD arent up to the challenge then 2 tanks and a DD chipping away yields the same result.

Don't counterstance, having a PDT set will drastically help your mages but isn't required, BRD should sub BLM for elegy. Biggest difference vs a chariot fight is that you need to get the positioning perfect, though that's still not that much worse than ZR. As stated earlier, MNKs need to be in a V formation so that mega scissors only hits one of them and mages can stand within casting range of them while not being in range of venom shower.

You don't need height differences to avoid any of the T3 moves on back line unless your mages are too stupid to understand distances, Krab is no exception.

How well geared does the rdm have to be to land slow2 on krab? or is /blm ES a must?

    and yes, loving the drawing

First few times I fought it, seemed tos tick fine(2-3 casts). Since then I've concluded it was just luck, floored stick rate regardless. I just have the BRD sub BLM for elegy and spam slow1 after elegy's about half done, tend to get a stick before it wears for the few min downtime on elegy.

One note about Verthandi that I saw was somewhat common knowledge on the JP side but didn't seem to see it all mentioned on the NA side.

Norn arrow is only used during winter breeze. After it uses it once it'll change back to another season. Since we were using two tanks for Verthandi, we just had them split up so only one person got hit with encumbrance. By chance one of the tanks actually outran Norn's arrow, which according to the other wiki, it keeps on trying to fire until it hits... however it promptly changed seasons after failing to do so. Perhaps it is evadeable via positioning, just as Yilb's flail is with its very narrow hit area? The tank actually ran him out of my viewable area so I couldn't see in the log if it readied and couldn't find a target in range or if he was too far or what. He said that it used the animation but never hit him. It's clear that he evaded it though as he took no damage and didn't get encumbered. Either the wiki is wrong about Norn Arrow repeatedly firing till it succeeds or there's some way to evade it. Take with a grain of salt.

I know you aren't asking for a Blob strat, but this is how we did it last night:

    Tank Party:
    PLD/NIN
    PLD/NIN
    WHM
    SCH
    BRD
    RDM

    BLM party:
    BLM
    BLM
    BLM
    COR
    THF
    RDM/BLU

Very retarded easy fight. RDM Diaga's adds with Phalanx and Cocoon up, three BLMs ga them down. Occasionally tossing T2-T3 nukes on Blob and Savage > Atonement for a minor SC.

    Took about 30 minutes.

Duuuude, a mob that's easy to kill in 30 minutes with 6 was a very retarded easy fight for 12 in the same time period? Who would've thought.

(Also, MNK tanks work very well on blob as well.)

hey, go easy on us. It was our very first T3 as a group. We had no idea what to expect and we were playing it very safe. I may switch the PLD's up to MNKs but not sure yet.

MNK/NIN Works on Blob and Krab?

Thanks for the diagram, silly as it is that's a big help ^^

Okay, now I've got an idea of how to bring this SOB down. Now if I can just pull myself away from the Halo Reach beta long enough to get through my 2 farming trials, I can get to work on VNMs LOL ><

Judging from Mnk strat is krab non physical resistant or semi? someone brought to my attention that chakra removes the poison so i said Mnkburn go jokingly but they said it was phys. resistant.

Formless strikes and I've noticed that blm damage in general is pretty weak the instant any DD is allowed to actually attack a mob and/or buffed.

With minuet x2 and Dia III, MNKs hit for 35-45 damage per fist with asuran around 400-450 damage. It takes about 10 minutes to kill it with 2 MNKs and no other damage dealers, provided they get BRD BRD or BRD COR. As far as I know it doesn't have any PDT, just keep scissor guard dispelled and buffs/dia up.. don't think our MNKs have tried formless but I doubt it'd do anything.

    hahaha

seriously though, Formless has an innate damage reduction and if it's more than Krab's -PDT (whatever that is) you're better off not using it. I think it starts off around -40% or so and goes down 5% every merit.

I suppose this would be a good thread to ask: general strats on the Vampyre? The only ones I've seen involve bouncing it between two tanks while rng and smn wear it down, and I'd like some alternatives.

Also, mnks without Howling Fist builds make me sad

Arthars posted a war zerg strat a bit back, excluding that I wouldn't really put melees on it. It has a really nasty aoe drain which can extend the fight time by a lot if you have multiple people get hit by it.

Solo tank it backwards with a PLD/NIN or RDM/NIN. Just chip away with whatever smns you have. Don't have to worry about Eternal Damnation or Mirax Glare if you stand backwards the entire time. I'd recommend sticking with SMN's for DD since the tank will have little issue with keeping hate and you want to minimize the amount of times it does gay shit like Wings of Gehanna.
