Might as well start the series, first book is short as shit. I'm not sure how much of the series the movie will cover but give it a shot!

The book and the movie are going to be very different. Without getting too deep into how it works, think of it like the movie being a parallel reality to the book. Similar characters and situations, but playing out differently. I don't think reading the books will be required at all, but I'd recommend because they're (generally) quite good. The prequel comics are also dope.

It's a smart choice to kinda shield them from book nerds (self included), tho it won't matter if the movie ends up sucking.

Well since they're already coming to our world in this movie, it's obvious things are going to be happening in not necessarily the same way. I'd have to imagine that if it does well enough to get a sequel, they'd change up some more stuff as well. I don't really see the entire Blaine thing making it's way to your average movie going audience

I've been reading the books, they are pretty good. Book one starts off slow, and is really just a set up for all thhe others but it's only like 250 pages. The movie was made assuming most didn't read the books, but its very interesting how the movie and books the together.
