The problem with saying that the trailer was better than the other two films is that you have to accept the other two films as a serious attempts at creating Street Fighter movies.
We can hope all we want that at the very least, it isn't as laughable as the other two SF movies.
They had to be at least somewhat serious, because there was a budget associated with them.
The previous street fighter movies, and by comparison, the Dragonball movie, all spent money, trying to make money - that's serious enough for me. Just because their script, casting, acting, and pacing sucks doesn't mean they weren't serious - it just means they have no fucking clue either about the series or with what the fuck they're trying to do.
If this becomes a success, I'd like to see him do more "real" adaptations. Megaman, DBZ, Ninja Gaiden - there are countless stories waiting to be told by people that "get" their source material, and want to do them justice. With the nintendo generation finally in its late 20's and 30's, the odds of us seeing a true fanboy with money (like in this instance) will become higher and higher, especially once this economy stops sucking ass.
They were serious attempts at creating action movies out of popular franchises, this does not however make them serious attempts at making a movie true to the source material. I think this may have been what Tekoa meant by serious attempts at Street Fighter movies. Like you said Lucavi, if they don't "get it" it's just another cheesy action movie. Personally, I think these directors have tried too hard to make these appeal to a mainstream audience. The reason these works such as Street Fighter or DBZ are popular is that they did appeal to a large audience, and hence if they make the movie in the spirit of the original works it should hopefully turn out better.
Here's to hoping your right Lucavi and we can start seeing some really great adaptations of our beloved franchises. It doesn't have to be EXACTLY the game or movie, some creative license is fine, but it needs to be tasteful and respectful to the work.
WTB MGS movie =/

just out of curiousity, what were the 2 movies you all were referring to? were they both live action? i could only find 1 on IMDB.
oh crap nvm, the chun li one lol
the ONLY SF movie worth watching are the annimated movies. (not the JP show series, or NA ones)the movies themselves were great. even a none-SF fan could appreciate it. the Alpha movie wasnt bad, but that was more geared toward the fans than the original annimated SF2 movie. Too bad the american dubbing sucks monkey balls. but the JP voices were fucking spot on

All you're getting for now.
That MGS movie looks fantastic for a, I'm guessing, fan-made movie.
On topic: The SF movie is out http://www.collider.com/2010/05/06/s...ostume-design/
Decent but two things, Akuma only in some Flashback? Also the ending kick to kick was kinda pointless. I really hope they pick up and continue. I feel I'm more disappointed in film time over anything.
