I'm calling homo on this one
There is nothign for me to argue about today, so i am going to take a nap and pretend i don't have mountains of school work to do.
When is the term done for you?
I fucking hate that I still have dreams about a project or paper or test due when I wake up, and then I wake up and realize that I don't go to school anymore. Those dreams are so annoying.
one time i was writing a paper and i realized my methodology was slightly wrong and i had 4 hours to rewrite large portions of it
that was one of my most terrifying experiences
I prefer going to class and seeing everyone else handing in papers and you just look around scared as fuck. And then the prof says 'is that everyone' and you are too scared to say anything so you go home and realize that the paper was due the day before the long weekend and not the day after like you thought all along and this is bad bad news
I've basically done it twice
I've had countless dreams about that happening but I've never done it myself
This has led to me checking the due dates on things 20 times to be sure, even if I've memorized them after the first or second time
Wow, that sounds like an awful experience.
I have never missed a deadline even if it meant abusing my body and mind in ways that would take weeks to repair.
Sometimes it's smarter to miss the deadline.
A thing that stuns me is how lax some of the humanities/social science profs are with deadlines. I have a friend who handed in a paper that was due in March in August and another paper that was due in November in February. I have never heard of such huge extensions especially across semesters. He gets huge extensions on everything just because he is lazy and can't get down to working.
I only had extensions twice in school, once was in high school because my mom was in the hospital (was due Friday, I turned it in Monday) and the second time was my first year of college, I got the extra weekend to finish it, and I got points off for it being late anyway.
My favorite story is still the three final papers I wrote in one night/morning, sleeping for 4-5 hours in between, and getting a B+ in all three classes. I felt like Superman after I got those grades.
In my experience a lot of the social science professors don't really buy into the whole arbitrary deadline and grading systems used in education. They're more interested in seeing how you apply the material than whether or not you can cough up a finished assignment, but the institution still requires those types of assignments. As a result, some of them don't really care when you hand it in as long as it's good. Others do. Shit's situational.
All of my professors were pretty strict on deadlines, at least publicly.
what's the biggest % reduction per day late you have seen
I had a professor last semester who set deadlines for everything, and every time it was due he would be like "if you dont have it i dont care, i know you guys have other classes, just try to get it to me within the month"
but he always said this either the class before or the class it was due, and I would already be done, and I would be like, wtf man
But I got an A and he's the guy who wants me to help student teach next year, possibly because I was the only one who ever did anything on time.
Had a class this term that was "if you hand in a paper late, 2 full grade reduction" so from A to C right off the bat.
There were like 6 papers for that class, shit was terrifying
Also I sat towards the front with like 8 people sitting behind me, and when we passed papers up I would always get only like 2-3 papers from the people behind me, and I would always sit there like WHAT THE FUCK PEOPLE DO YOU NOT CARE ABOUT GRADES OR HAVE SOME KIND OF SECRET IN WITH THE PROFFESSOR, HOW IS NO ONE DOING WORK BUT ME
All of my biochem classes except for ones with lab components only had midterms and finals for grade so it was just midterm/final. It was actually quite sadistic.
