Considering many translate it as "Job's brothers, sisters, and his former friends," it seems to me they aren't just missing the point of the book, they are missing the point of the passage they reference. It wasn't that everyone decided this is a great guy; let's make him rich again. It was, "Oh crap, we abandoned someone God favors. Let's bribe him!" It was vindication, not charity.

This, of course, utterly and completely ignores that this "project" is largely anathema to pretty much every New Testament instruction regarding money, but hey... who wants a pesky thing like the Bible to stand in the way of the church?
