There was a short discussion about this in the MLB thread. As a Phillies fan myself, the kid totally deserved it. It was probably safer than letting him run around until someone possibly tackled and injured him, or before he could potentially hurt someone else. From what I've read, he called his dad before he did it to ask permission, his dad said no, and he went ahead and did it anyway.
