Random Facebook Drama / Hilarity (Warning: Long, and frustrating text blocks)

Some quick background first...

About a year ago, my sister took some "how ghetto are you?" quiz and scored "You LIVE in the ghetto!" - she made a harmless remark to the effect of "but I moved away from Malden...", which is the town we grew up in.

Immediately, one of the family members (a second cousin) jumped all over the comment, scolding her to "YOU MAY THINK YOU ARE ALL THAT NOW BECAUSE YOU LIVE IN NH NOW BUT DONT FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM YOU WERE BORN IN MALDEN AND LIVED THEIR FOR MOST OFF YOUR LIFE SO DONT CRITISIZE WHEN YOU LIVE IN A GLASS HOUSE".

It was with that, we realized we could post anything we wanted to on Facebook, and get a hilarious response for our efforts.

My sister and I would take turns making veiled jabs at the second cousin over the course of the next several months, mostly getting similar responses.

I work in retail - as a store manager. Much to my dismay, there is a methadone clinic a few blocks away. This creates a large number of druggies hanging out in the vicinity of my store, and many come in and steal. I made a comment about it on Facebook - and the following exchange took place:

Dear billy what do you have so against people who are drug addicts they are very ill people noone asked to become a druggie it happens from maybe an accident and they got perscribed the meds and then became phyciacly addicted or maybe they just want to escape their lives but for whatever reason it is a sickness and their also is a cure DONT USE DRUGS!!!!!!! for any reason just dont pick up again once you get clean, go to a detox and get clean then go to meeting get a sponcer, and pray to a higher power to help you to not pick it up again !!! if you follow through with those suggestions you will stay clean!! but if you choose to pick it up again then thats on you!! but before you judge someone please find out why and how they got on the drugs in the first place!! and I know it angers you that they steal from your store but belive me its not just junkies that steal either!!

It's not a disease. People just say that so they don't need to feel responsible for their own screw ups.

AND I LITTERLY COULDNT WALK I EVEN HAD A TUDOR COME TO MY HOME BECAUSE I COULDNT GO TO SCHOOL I WAS VERY MISSARABLE AND THEN I HAD SURGERY TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG AND I FOUND OUT I HAD ENDOMETROSIS A DISEASE WHERE YOUR UTERUS FORMS SCARE TISSUE ON OTHER PARTS OF YOUR BODY LIKE YOUR BOWEL WALL AND OVERIES AND SOMETIMES EVEN YOUR STOMACH WALL AND EVERY MONTH IT BLEEDS JUST LIKE YOUR UTERUS DOES AND IT CAUSED ME GREAT PAIN BUT I REFUSED MEDS BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO LAY DOWN AND SLEEP THROUGH IT BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE CHILDREN AT THE TIME BUT AFTER I HAD KIDS IT GOT EVEN WORSE BECUASE MORE SCARE TISSUE DEVELOPED , NOW IM WITH 2 KIDS AND IN MORE PAIN!!! AND I CANT JUST LAY DOWN WHENEVER I NEEDED TO SO THE DR GAVE ME PAIN MEDS TO TAKE SO I COULD TAKE CARE OF THE KIDS AND WALK AND FEED AND BATHE THEM AND BE A MOM TO THEM!! BUT WHAT HAPPEND WAS I GOT VERY ADDICTED TO THEM AND HARD A VERY HARD TIME COMING OFF OF THEM NOW WAS IT MY FAULT?? MAYBE I COULD HAVE SAID NO BUT I NEEDE RELIEF FROM THE PAIN AND THEY WOULDNT GIVE ME A HYSTERECTOMY BECAUSE I WAS TO YOUNG BUT AS SOON AS I TURNED 29 THEY GAVE ME ONE SO I COULD FUNCTION BUT I STILL CRAVED THE DRUGS MENTALLY AND PCHICALY SO I WENT TO DETOX AND GOT HELP NOW I HAVE 7YRS CLEAN, AND I DIDNT GROW UP IN A FAMILY THAT DID DRUGS IT JUST HAPPEND BECAUSE OF A PHCSICAIL PROBLEM!! NOT A MENTAL ONE, THEIRS A BIG DIFFERNCE SO PLEASE DONT JUDGE OTHERS UNTIL YOU KNOW THE WHOLE STORY AND YES I DID TRY MOTRIN AND TYLENAL AND ALEVE BEFORE I EVER TOOK A PILL I EVEN HAD GONE TO PAIN MANADGEMENT TO CONTROL IT WITHOUT MEDS FOR AWHILE BUT ITS HARD TO MEDITATE WHEN YOU HAVE A 4 AND 2 YR OLD RUNNING AROUND LOL, BUT NOW I DONT ANYTHING BUT ASPRIN I DONT EVEN TAKE BENADRLY EITHER LOL I HOPE THIS WILL ENLIGHTEN YOU TO SEE THAT NOT EVERYONE WHO GETS HOOKED DOES IT BECAUSE THEY WANT ITS A VERY HARD THING TO GO THROUGH BUT IT ALSO MAKES YOU A STRONGER PERSON AND A VERY GRATEFULL ONE TO!

I'm confused... I can't judge until I achieve perfection, and I can't achieve perfection until I develop a drug habit?

I've half cut off a finger, hairline fractured my leg, dislocated my ankle, sprained my knee and been attacked by a dog. I've been given prescriptions for several prescriptions for oxycodone, and have thrown them all away. Of the combined 32 days doctors have ordered me to "not work" - I've not worked on two of them.

I guess some people are mentally and physically tougher and more resilient than others.

I'm part of the solution though. I've caught people stealing, and had to detain them for 2-3 hours because the Boston PD is ridiculously slow. Sometimes it's funny to watch as their methadone wears off, and they can't leave to go get another one. They start freaking out and getting all jittery. Then they get to go to jail for stealing. I'm running a cold turkey clinic for junkies!

You compare methadone to insulin? That's absurd. Diabetes is a legitimate disease. Drug addiction is a character flaw... a weakness, not a disease. Calling it a disease is like calling laziness or stupidity a disease.

Seriously, you have the most backward logic I've ever seen. You've said I lack courage, balls and I'm incapable of handling the real world because I have never had a drug addiction?

Wow.

I'm certainly doing a lot better than the methadone junkies who need drugs to deal with "the real world".

If dependency on drugs is a disease, does that make dependency on Section 8, WIC and EBT a disease too? If so, we should bring back leper colonies.

I HAVE NOT FAILED AT LIFE I HAVE LIVED LIFE AND IT GAVE ME STRENGHT I NEVER KNEW I HAD AND IT ALSO GAVE ME SOMETHING YOU CAN NEVER HAVE COMPASION FOR OTHERS I HAD A PROBLEM AND I CHOOSE TO GET HELP AND FIX MY ILLNESS SO HOW IS THAT NOT HAVING ANY CHARACTER??? You take things way too personally.

What have I done to help? I've probably saved several children from a life of squalor, spaghetti-ohs and servitude after their louse parents got arrested and deemed unfit to care for them.

I remember one junkie asking a cop what time it was. The cop replied "4:30". The junkie lamented, "damn, I missed my DSS hearing".

I guess stealing lipstick and getting high is more important to junkies than taking care of their children.
