Read embedded quotes, he specifically said RDM/COR
It's a neat solo tool for people with a poor job spread I guess, but if you're leveling the sub specifically for that you'd be better off spending the time leveling a job that can solo real things in a reasonable timespan like RDM/PLD/BLM/NIN/etc.
Well, let's just saying you're someone with RNG 75 and COR 75. Right now, COR would be the obvious choice should this person go to solo, say, Fortitude. Now, post-update, it's possible that person might be able to use RNG instead, with much, much higher damage guns/bullets. What's not to love?
Not saying it's optimal for everyone, but in this case it could be an "upgrade" no?
Has RDM entirely abandoned Bio/Poison DoTing? If not, seems like it'd be pretty damn good for that at a bare minimum.
I'm not entirely familiar with RDM soloing and the intricacies of RDM kited fights, but it seems like RDM kiting and COR kiting would merge fairly seamlessly for RDM, so you get QD damage + increased damage/tick.
117
RNG/COR, Culverin, gimped warlock's roll: 469 QD on a 55 second recast
COR/RDM, average wizard's roll(6 mab), slightly better warlock's roll, following setup(they assumed perfect gear for the 469 on rng, so may as well for cor too):
HQ staff/W.e/Magian/Steel
Tricorne+1/Ugga/Novio/Moldy
ACP/Rover's/Blobdingnag/Galdr
Commander's/Scouter's/Nimue's/AF+1
35 MAB counting roll, 116 base damage
24 MAB from /RDM40
2 * 126=252
* 1.59 = 400.68
* 1.15 = 460
so you're comparing a 1.9% increase in damage to a 22% increase in quantity, not to even start on the drastic difference in m.acc or fact that corsair can cure itself while /RDM..
There's very little that's entirely dot kited any more, you can drastically speed up these fights with nukes. If /NIN is not required to get nukes off, /SCH will be superior to /COR for damage. I can't think of anything off the top of my head I would sub COR for on RDM.Has RDM entirely abandoned Bio/Poison DoTing? If not, seems like it'd be pretty damn good for that at a bare minimum.

/nin is pretty much needed on anything very dangerous/mobs you can't bind. Edit: in response to rdm/cor for kiting.
If only RDM could equip a gun to be able to use Quick Draw at all, eh?
The debate is that it might work with bow since cor can't use bow we have no idea as of now.
It might help if anyone actually read the description of the job ability.
Yeah but descriptions can be misleading. Innin is supposed to only enhance Ninjutsu but it really just adds MAB. Easy to test just nin/blm and use some nukes with and without innin.
You're really comparing "enhancing ninjutsu" being MAB added to elemental ninjutsu to "Shoot a bullet" being "shoot an arrow too"?
Blade Bash.
Blow me.
That's a much better comparison, but it still looks like an oversight to me, as I've seen maybe two people ever actually have that merited. I couldn't fathom them fucking up on Quick Draw on the path to 99 and letting any job that can slap on a ranged weapon take most of what is unique about COR.
Depends on how comfortable you are with kiting, and how fast you are with your macros, or spellcast.
The only situation I can see /cor being used (for QD only) is for a rng, with cor leveled also, for soloing like a cor main imo, any other job would be losing out on too much to benefit from it.
What I should have said is that I have probably seen (or noticed) 2 people ever use the ability on something. I know 5/5 overwhelm is the way to go, and I have seen a lot of Shikikoyos.
5/5 overwhelm 4/5 blade bash 1/5 shiki IMO.
