For ranged weaponskills, does ammo affect weapon rank or will max damage be only based on the weapon?

ie, does Archery have more potential than Crossbow that has more potential than Guns based on the order of their best weapon's base damage or given that with ammo they all have roughly the same damage and therefore about the same weapon rank?

Specifically would Othinus' bow be significantly behind E/V bows sidewinders even though the difference between obow+DS (54+50=104) is only a couple points behind e/v (71+38=109)? What exactly is the difference between the two beyond 3str/agi/2rac/5ratk on the bow, the 5 base damage difference ammo (CPA has more racc though GMB has more dmg/ratk), and the wsc (I'm a taru anyways)?

Won't see many pickups but there are strong dyna/ein/znm shells. Depends what you need. We run dyna/ein and other stuff and there's at least one other shell that covers znm, sky, dyna etc. Don't really see pickup salvage here. For some reason peeps shout for nyzul a lot but not salvage. Do see occasional one.

Go shoot something wearing full STR gear with a Wooden Arrow and then a Demon Arrow. Calculate the base damage, subtract bow and arrow damage, see if you had different fSTRs. Ranged Attacks are nice. It'd take you about 3 minutes to do the test and most of that would be calculation time.

If ammo wasn't included than guns would be at a large disadvantage, but I always thought guns did the most damage. However, I really don't know how easy RNGs ever hit fstr so this very well be a limitation for guns.

So specifically looking at my ws stats atm I have 56~58+33 str and 75~76+48 agi depending on sub. That gives me a max of 46 fstr, max of 14 str wsc (for bow), and 31agi wsc (bow) or 37 for for marks. Bow would be +91 damage versus marks 83.

If it were a harder mob I would use a gun and have a damage advantage over bow of 10 before wsc (still 2 ahead after wsc), and were it weaker mobs I would be using acid bolts so that 5/13 less damage seems negligible with after an additional -12.5% def for everyone.

I'm just confused as to why e/v bow is considered optimal since gun seems to have better potential for damage/x-hits and xbow seems to offer more versatility (acid, holy, bloody) and cheaper ammo. Are the people blindly praising e/v bow just because it is better for the taller races or am I missing additional information?

Well bow does more damage than xbow if you can't land acid bolts, or if someone else is using them. And bow also has the advantage of having a further sweet spot, so if you're standing back to avoid aoes, bow will often be better.

Yeah Xbow/gun sweet spots are in AOE range on just about anything I think so that would be one of bows main advantages imo.

Nobody seems to know the the definitive answer on this and I'd really like to find it. What exactly is the best ws set for catastrophe? I've heard stacking attack is good and I know some people just use str. Nobody bothers with the modifiers so why exactly are the modifiers int and agi not helpful at all? If you stacked every piece of int and agi possible, would it not be good at all? Is there a certain ratio where str is better than agi or int? Like would 1 str be better or is it 2:1 or higher? Or is it really just better to stack the most attack possible?

If you had access to any piece of equipment, what would be the absolute best catastrophe ws set? I'd also really like to know the reasons why also. Thanks.

The billing cycle always starts on the 1st of the month. Reactivations are NOT pro-rated; if you reactivate today you'll pay full cost for the month of May even though it's the 31st. Unless you're really bored today, wait until tomorrow.

(New accounts, on the other hand, only pay for the portion of the month between when they sign up and the 1st of the next month.)

Technically, neither.

Ammo does not affect wrank. Max damage is not 'only' based upon the weapon.

Every time I've seen it done, wrank is based upon the weapon base damage (exception magian, relic / mythics in which augmented damage is added before calculation.) Ammo is part of base damage for ranged attacks, but not wrank.

I try to keep in mind as well, before making comparisons of gun, bow and crossbow in terms of which does "more" potential damage or "outperfoms", that distance affects ratt and racc differently for these, and of course overall damage is affected by the speed of the attack, the frequency and power of the weapons skills, etc. not to mention the gear and subjob of the ranger. Skill is simply another factor that can greatly impact performance.

If you go to KI, there was a really long sticky in the rng forum and Spider Dan among others gave some pretty deep explanations on the comparison of these weapon types. The post-its to the sticky are probably as interesting as the sticky itself.

check http://kanican.livejournal.com/ for locations; [s] probably wouldn't be worth your time, even if you found a free spot, where the vnm actually is vs pulling to that spot would be hard.

it's a 33.2% mod for both, so they're probably about equal to str, maybe slightly better.

There's a file check on POL menu. Regardless, you should be able to log in to your account to do updates even if your IDs are not active.
