enhancing sword is a bit above my pay grade, but i'm willing to put in the time for a magian sword. i'd asked in the last thread if any of them came close to a joyeuse, but only really was told that joyeuse was better. i'll get a joyeuse as soon as i can, but right now i'm focused on getting to 75, putting some merits into it, and then from there, after figuring out what i enjoy doing, and meriting and gearing accordingly.

on a related note - while subjobs should be fully leveled, i know, is my 33 blu sufficient enough level to sub for rdm to play with tanking? or is there a spell 33-37 that's crucial to the sub being useful for tanking? (in terms of creating an auto-regen, etc., not cocoon obviously).

I have a question - Is there any actual differences between +evasion and +evasion skill? Also +2 evasion = 1% chance to evade right?

There's always some people who say Evasion Skill helps more than Evasion.

Any truth behind evasion skill is better than regular evasion?

Alternatively DRKs feed it no TP and BLMs chip away at it and kill pods, likely safer for groups trying it for the first time.

^This. Especially in the idea of NEWER DRK tanks, not just newer attempts at the setup. Full time earth staff may prove best for the not-so-adept blink tanker.

Once you've got the strategy/play style down, with mages up to par, your DRK tanks can souleater everytime it's up to kill it faster, along with straight MKris/KClub/whathaveyou zerging to death after pods are done.

It's not always that simple, and you know it. Knowing how to count shadows on a DD != on a tank. In most situations you'll be losing hate to another well-geared DD long before anything bad enough could happen. Not the same in a tanking situation.

Five stuns, a tank that has a pretty forgiving amount of PDT available to them, and Elegy.. That's pretty hard to mess up.

Your average player still has a decent chance at wiping to Omega with eighteen, I don't see why its relevant.

Yeah Auto regen is healing breeze + sheep song iirc dont think you lose much by not having 37 other then mp/hp obv. Probably want to work on it with level cap increase coming though may gain new crap from it.

cool, thanks... basically, when my rdm gets to 75, i want to do a bit of everything... merit, solo, salvage, tanking, etc. if i fall in love with a particular aspect of it, then focus on becoming the best possible at that. i still need to level my drk to 37 (tho i'll probably just AB it, since i don't need to learn anything from the job other than stun), and i don't want to take the time to level blu up to 37/40/49 if i'm not gonna use it.

I'm taking white mage to 75, and to be honest I don't think I'm going to be able to afford every HQ staff right off the bat. It'll be something to work for.

My question to you guys is, which HQ staves are most important to WHM?

No, it's not ok to ninja lot Haidate.

Vulcan's, Neptune's and Jupiter's are the only three I can't see WHM needing at all. Pluto is nice for /SCH Drain+Aspir. Rest for enfeebles, apollo for repose.

It's just easier to get them all though.

if all you're taking to 75 is whm...just get HQ light(repose) and Plutos. If you take blm and rdm to 75...get all of them.

whm should idle in a terra's staff unless you've got a dryad staff for max mp build.

fwiw, especially with /sch, whm has pretty decent enfeebling skill. carrying around aquilo's, auster's and terra's can be really beneficial for situations where you're low-manning stuff w/o a rdm.
