It really isn't that bad, but the time between 300% TP Sneak Attack Fully Boosted Footwork Dragon Kicks is too long.
I don't quite remember where I saw it - but I think someone had posted a good way to solo/duo the Bead S, SCNM NM's.
I'm interested in getting a hat, so I'd like to know how I can fight these NM's myself.
(Big Note, I'm a noob at the rdm/nin thing - so any tips/pointers would be appreciated as well)
If you're going to do that, you might as well just sub WHM and use Chi Blast. It really isn't that bad, but the time between 300% TP Sneak Attack Fully Boosted Footwork Dragon Kicks is too long.
MNK/WHM Chi Blast works great provided you're doing it 5 years ago.
I still got bounding boots, vbelt, custom M gloves, woodsman/rajas. So while I'm not gonna spend 1.5m in bullets to 75, am I gonna be better off w/ sword or dagger?
They're all straight-tankable RDM/NIN with the exception of the Goblin and the THF (names eluding me, haven't slept). Slow II is essential for all of them, you'll want a MDT set for Observant Zekka (and echo drops ^-^). Paralyze, Bind, Gravity works on none of them. Your main damage comes from Bio/Poison and nukes, Ceremonial Daggers if that's your thing (not mine, so meh). The PLD will take you the longest due to it's ability to Cure IV if you aren't meleeing it, but it's also the easiest and good practice in my opinion. The WAR is most likely the hardest solo, it's attacks are (literally) random intervals and cannot be slowed because they are all Head Butt, which will stun you if it lands and can fuck you over if even one does.
Sorry for wall of text, I'm beyond tired. Thorny will probably quote his old post later. Honestly, they aren't very difficult at all, with the exception of the WAR which still annoys me even with near capped recast timers.
Considering one of the best uses for Phalanx II is early Salvage floors (where you're unlikely to have a JA cell for a while), it could still be useful. As for other situations, having Phalanx II would allow you to use charges on Haste/Refresh/Stoneskin/Enspells/whatever and still be able to phalanx other people.
because using haste/refresh with aoe charge will make it more potent?
imo aoe phalanx+cycled haste > aoe haste+cycled phalanxII if you need to phalanx everybody in your PT (didn't do any MP math so it might be wrong)
I already suggest aoe enspell but watch out for stupid rdms enspelling you when you have haste samba
Any suggestions for S/SM Tanihwa stratedgies?
what are the best set ups for drk cat1 merits?
thinking it over i came down to 3 different set ups
*souleatter/last resort recast
or
*last resort effect/recast
or
*souleatter/ last resort effect
most seem to like the middle option praising it is uber cuz you atk faster for the 30sec, but with pulling hate, animations and what not it seems to lose its value more so then souleatter with it's slightly more forgiving 1min duration(plus gains in hp post update!). Personally i think these merits suck lol but i'm out to cap merits so looking for any input.
I did SE/Last Resort Effect but it seems to not be a very popular choice. I'm not a huge fan of timer merits since usually theres a pause where you don't want to use a JA the very same second it comes up due to the mob being almost dead, bad timing, not fighting anything atm, etc. I'm sure some mathologists will pull some numbers out from somewhere so what do I know.
tsuko argueing that DD cor in exp makes little difference made my head hurt
just shows you play with shit CORs.
SAM/WAR with near perfect gear(hauby+1/speedbelt/polearm/8/8merits in advance) at lv. 63 for birds and the DD COR did almost 1/3 of my dmg, and 1/2 of the average polearm SAM at 63.
i guess when you smn burn your jobs mostly (which i'm NOT against) you forget the grind and cors impact, leading to retarded comments
Can you stop tainting these forums with your worthless drama?
I am sure there is many COR V BRD threads you can shit on.
---------------------->
I'll ask again cause my original two posts where lost between the childish bickering.
Any decent set ups for Taniwha with S and SM ? ( Rune 17/18 ) I know BLM x3 WHM PLD BRD works okay, pain in the ass to get those jobs sometimes. Also is there a maze solo able so I can farm marbles? Would be nice to make a solo tabula so I don't have to keep making groups lol
If you're talking cor pre-joyeuse, I would probably go with dagger in most situations. Just melee for TP and shoot every so often. It really doesn't cost all that much.
Post-joyeuse it gets cheap to actually play the job right. Throw in leaden salute and it gets even cheaper because you can use any damage bullet and it doesn't matter. If you're in a situation where the mobs aren't greater colibri Leaden Salute will perform.
The cost of COR is minimal in the bullet damage department. Card prices can stack up pretty quickly though.
It's not that expensive to buy a stack of steel bullets for 120k and those let you do the most damage on your QD's without expending them as well as last you 1188 slug shots/detonators.
That's 902,880 damage with underestimating that each slug shot/detonator would be 800 damage and you miss 5% of those.
Leaden Salute can easily average 500-700 damage on anything that isn't dark resistant so if you're smart you'd buy a stack of bronze bullets for that costing roughly 30k/stack.
So you're looking at less than 200k in consumables to put out respectable damage that will help speed up almost any situation you're in. Depending on how often you play that 200k in consumables will last you a long time. The main exception being mobs you can't get into melee range for or don't want to cause TP spam.
I know you keep saying you want to be a roll whore but I'm telling you right now it's boring as hell and you'll likely regret it in the end because you'll absolutely hate playing the job.
was talking about this, suck his dick in another thread, he's wrong here.
anyway you want to take it, whether he means it as everyone else took it, a cor not DD'ing, or as dropping from 4 dd/nin nin rdm to to 3dd/nin cor(dice/pull only, no dd) nin rdm, as no improvement (standard exp pt example, he's still wrong)
I don't think what you quoted means what you think it means.
