While the topic is up, if I buy CS on XBL, will the download for CSII and all further updates be free?

CS2 balancing is just a patch for the game. All characters new to CS2 (Makoto/Valkenhayn/Platinum) are available $8 DLC characters.

Still no official word as for CS2+ for consoles though. I could go with a patch/DLC alongside a physical re-release akin to Capcom's SF4 AE though.

I'm still not sure if I'm being trolled so I'll just take the safe route and spell it out.

    SFIV -- BBCT
    SSFIV -- BBCS
    SSFIVAE -- BBCS2

There was absolutely no difference up until CS2 where they split the cost between characters and made the balance patch free. If you actually want more than one of the characters it costs more than AE. Now both games have another patch announced with minimal official details, so who knows where they're going from here.

No other current fighting game comes anywhere near these two as far as paid patches/rereleases go so I have no clue what you're getting at.

Not to mention the countless versions of Guilty Gear, Guilty Gear X, and Guilty Gear XX, Arc has put out. Hate Capcom all you want but with each patch at the very least they try to keep the majority of characters relevant. Arc System Works is infamously known for saying a big FUCK YOU! for whatever batch of random characters they feel like updating/nerfing and making half the cast useless.

Hell, I'd go out on a limb and say they'd put out more versions of the same game and charged for it then Capcom has. If not, then it's close as hell and still nothing to brag about saying it's "refreshing" for a company to release a free patch.

EDIT: So like Thulius said, not sure if getting trolled here.

In Arc's case, I don't think they had the luxury of charging for the balance patch. There just isn't as many players for BB as there are SF4, so splitting the online player-base up further based on who pays for the update would further dwindle the numbers.

Besides Rachel in CS1, everyone was relevant and had a chance of winning. Granted, everyone could pull off 40% of health bars with decent starters. In Evo top 8 BB had 7/8 unique characters, SF4 had 5/6, and MvC3 had 13 unique characters.

Guilty Gear only had 1 version
    Guilty Gear X had X and 1.5
Guilty Gear XX had XX, Reloaded, Slash, Isuka, Accent Core and Accent Core Plus

I think street fighter 2 had around 11 or so over the years?

Digging through the CS2+ stuff, this one I found interesting:

Break burst - Hitting the opponent with burst or making the opponent block it gives 25% meter to you
I'm not sure if I like adding a perk to something like green bursts, but I guess it can make for some interesting comebacks/upsets...

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can stop wondering how they'll gain access to the new content in the PlayStation Vita version of BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend. Famitsu reveals this week that Extend is also due for release on the two home consoles.

As reported earlier here, Extend is an updated version of arcade title BlazBlue Continuum Shift II. It adds new characters, including Ignus and Relius Clover, new scenarios, an Abyss Mode, and a network mode.

CSII was itself just an updated version of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Continuum Shift, which makes all of this just a bit confusing. We'll have to wait for details on how Arc intends to price the PS3 and 360 versions of Extend, or if they intend on releasing the new content as download content.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend is coming to PlayStation Vita. It's coming to PlayStation 3 too. So the natural question is, will there be cross platform play?

In the latest developer interview at the PlayStation Vita Community site, Arc System Works' Hiroyuki Masuno and Toshimichi Mori were asked just that.

Unfortunately, they didn't give a clear answer. Masuno said that they'd like to support cross platform play if at all possible. It's a feature they have their eyes on, as it could be a major selling point.

Mori said that they'd like to implement the feature in part because other companies are planning on having cross platform play features in their games. They'll be consulting with Sony Computer Entertainment, and he hopes everything goes well.

Masuno added that he wants the discussions with Sony to cover the possibility of support for network-based combat via 3G.

Of course, none of this offers confirmation that the game will have 3G combat support or cross platform play. But it should be reassuring that Mori and Masuno are at least looking into the features.

The two also discussed the game's Tokyo Game Show demo. Attendees will get to sample the latest build. It's been improved over E3. Stages that could not run at 60 frames per second back at the June event now run at the full sixty frames.

I get no audio and choppy as shit playback here at work but did that say that it's going to also contain story mode for the DLC characters and the CT version as well?

With my limited understanding, just a refined story mode, and something about story save data for PS3/PSV. Possibly cross-compatible or something.

Really do hope Extend goes the hybrid delivery route on 360/PS3. Either buy a new disc (and have all the DLC characters) for $40 somethin', and the rest of us can just spend another $16 on characters given our existing investments, and get the stories additions patched in as a bonus for them.

New multiplayer mode has me interested. More-so if you can assign your buds to each play as one of the selected characters in the match up. Could essentially arrange a prolonged match without wasting time going back to the lobby every fight.

Yeah I just saw the team thing now, that could be fun. Hoping Extend revives the online activity anyways, XBL has been dead as shit recently and I can only assume it's gotten worse since 3SOE dropped. And yeah, patch being free and character being $4-6 like before would be ideal, though I could understand charging a nominal fee for the patch since it adds new modes and isn't just re-balancing like CSII was. If it's like $15 for the patch and another $5 for Relius imma be a bit cranky though(not like it'd keep me from buying it, you could slap a BlazBlue or Dead Space sticker on a tin of cat shit at this point and I'd give you at least $20 for it).

I really do hope PSV allows external USB controllers via mini-USB adapter.

I'd totally bring an arcade stick around in a backpack if it meant playing BBCS2E on the go.

ahahaha I was thinking that earlier, trying to come up with ways that I could attach some sort of stand onto the back of a stick to hold the PSV upright
